Just been watching these on the Royal Marines website on one of them the recruit says he enjoys using the weights more than doing cardio, I thought you didn't use weights in training?? And on video 8 is that what most of the gym sessions are like?? And how come the videos stop at week 15?? I would love to see the rest of them.

Some gym sessions are sprints/rope climbing/pushups/situps/pullups. The weights one he was talking about are strength circuits which they also do. A bunch of equipment is laid out in the gym and you go round once or twice. I think the only 'normal' gym thing they do in it with weights is squats.
They might have stopped the videos at week 15 because it's the tactical phase, didn't want to give any secrets away? Not sure, didn't stay long enough.

When I joind the first 15 weeks were MSC, MSE and MSF in he gym, but there were strength sessions between which invloved Squats, Deadlifts, Military presses, Bench presses and the such.

I contacted the people about this and got the reply below:
Mitchell,

Thank you for your comment below, and good to hear you have enjoyed using
the very popular Royal Navy web site.

With regards to the 'following the marines' film series on the site, it has
been very popular and, as I am sure you saw, we also had a series on ITV
called Commando last year; if you go to ITV2 they are re-running the
excellent series in a few 1 hr episodes.

With regards to the ones on the web; a new course has just started and they
are filming again, so if you keep your eyes peeled on the web, there should
be a whole course on their in due course
They even sent me a free ringtone of Heart of Oak! I guess the best bet is to just keep our eyes peeled.

If you were told to run in circles for 24 hours with a Turnip shoved up your arse would you?

To be honest some of your questions are doing my head in sunshine!

You join the Corps of Royal Marines, you do as your told and if you hack what your told for 32 weeks you get a green lid and a draft to a Commando unit at the end.

Please for Gawds sake please! Just stop asking stupid questions, OK?

The Average Bootneck is just that, average, in height, average in weight. But not in Common dog, he is more switched on than a Lighthouse on the coast at two in the morning when it's overcast and snowing.

"don't want to give away our underwater knife fighting techniques do we?"

TOO RIGHT!!!

In response to the original question... yes, you do use weights but not that often. The videos stop at week 15 bcause the training team have better things to do than film nods AND that video was a strength circuit in the gym... after week 9 you're on bottom field until week 22.

I fail to see how the lads question/s are 'stupid'. They seem perfect reasonable to me.

No wonder MFAT is dead these days !!!

He asked if you use weights in training... after he just saw a video with lads squatting (Video 8 ) THINK!!!

You lot concentrate too much on fitness. There is so much more to CTC than just phys. Every question asked is about fitness... and has probably been asked hundreds of times before (search button) THINK!!!

"No wonder MFAT is dead these days !!!"

You're gobbing off at an ML. Once again... THINK!!!

Useless twonks like you are the main reason I decided to make myself a Guest on Military Forums, as in leave it. You don't like my reactions to silly questions then bugger off to another forum ASAP.

I think Artist is also reffering to another question he asked about weather he could afford an Audi A3

The OP obviously was looking for clarification / confirmation / a bit of extra information as to how and when weights are used, and to what extent, otherwise, I'm sure he wouldn't have posted.

Maybe it could have been worded better ?

Well this is Miltary FITNESS and Training.

1. If everyone used the search button, then activity on the forum would decline even further.
2. Things often change, so previous information may not be accurate.

Why am I a 'useless twonk' then ?

Yeah, I've seen you are a guest over there. You've wrapped or threatened to wrap, more times than I can count (figure of speech - before we get any smart arse comments  ) on both forums.

I'm not going to throw the 'teddy out of the cot' and wrap on this forum just because I don't like someones reactions ... that would be pathetic.

Rich.

I wrapped over on the other site because far to many to mind racist threads were popping up and to be honest I just can't be bothered to argue the toss with people of that ilk.

Rich I as per normal gave a kneejerk reaction to your post. As in blew a circuit and let rip. A traight I have had all my life both as a serving Bootneck and as a hacked off Civvy.
