Can I blog? (paratrooper training)

Hi all,

I'm planning to join 4Para 10 Coy and am just going throw the process of meeting up and planning to go on the insight course soon.

My question is, can I blog about my experiences?

I'm an online marketer by day and whilst searching Google I thought I would have come across a few blogs talking about experiences, training, hardships that kind of thing but I haven't found any.

Anyone have any ideas?

There are a few diaries around, more Royal Marines around here than Para. Although I know there are one or two 4 Para ones around here, it's best in my personal opinion to collect material of the full experience first, then when you complete the cadre post it all together. That way you save yourself loosing track of your post, and people possibly posting lots of replies between your 'blog' entries. The diaries that are written and updated once a month etc. are almost never completed.

Sounds like good advice - thanks :)

Do you have any links to the blogs? RM / Para or otherwise? Just can't seem to Google / search and find any of them.

Royal Marine Reserve Diary Full account - around 14-18 weekends total plus some 2 week courses at Lympstone.

Regular RM diary 32 Weeks

4 Para recruit training diary Intro to the training, there is a followup somewhere. I think Boxingmad might have also posted the full 8 week breakdown, but that might be over on MF

General Para reg joining info Includes some on 4 Para I think.

Edit: Just realised nickosx's diary has been removed, sounds like training staff are not happy with people putting blogs of RM training up.

You can blog mate, the question is whether you really want to.

Why might he not want to?

I would quite like to find an insight/pcoy diary...

...because potential recruits aren't the only ones who can read, those who train potential recruits can also occasionally make out the odd word.

So it is frowned upon then?

You wouldnt want your training team reading your blog would you?

True, but I would have thought most blogs would go up AFTER the training as its not like there would be lots of time to do it DURING?

Thanks for the advice Sarastro.

The idea of the blog is to help others along the same path.

When I first looked into becoming a Para I couldn't really find much in the way of personal diaries or experiences apart from the odd paragraph dotted around.

I certainly think it may help others to see what decisions I've made, the training before, the training during and the experiences afterwards.

It'll be something I'll do now and release in the future - until I've passed out - no point reading a blog of a would-be-Para hey? :)

Oh and Robbiedont - I'll be going for 4PARA (TA) so I'll still have time to scribble my ramblings down.

He deleted his diary himself along with all his other posts.
Last I heard he got CL and never went back.
