Is the ITC Catterick combat infantrymans course 24 weeks or is it 26weeks?

Now if 26 weeks do you still passout week 12

Not 100% about the length of the course mate, think it is 26 weeks. You pass off the square at week 6 to get rid of your "see you next Tuesday" cap and get your beret with a green backing, to show you have not passed P-Coy. Then you pass off the square at week 26, after P-Coy and all that.

I think it's 24 weeks in your infantry. 26 for paras.

Yeah sorry mate, didn't read the post correctly, just assumed you meant CIC PARA from where the post was.

In general, how did you lot find the 26 weeks (PARA)? (I'm a STAB)

I never finished the whole course mate, but in what way do you mean plastic.

The first 12 weeks are pretty much standard, (without putting my foot in it) except the phys. Then I was off the course pretty much after that.

Like I said; in general how did you find it? Hard, enjoyable, bone, interesting etc etc....

All of those at one time mate! Of course it was hard, not just physically, but mentally too. Being tired all the time was the worst. But some of the things you learn are really interesting (except the bone 1970's video's on NSP's)

Weapons lessons and live firing are top notch, but the best thing about the course is the lads. I know it took me a while to get used to being on my own when I came out! All the banter and the piss taking.... can't beat it!

Are you going back nufc.9? I'm joining when I return from TELIC 12 with my current unit.

The Para course is now 28 weeks apparently, not sure if that means the regular Infantry course has also been extended by two weeks though.

Definatly plastic! Getting the fitness back up to scratch then applying in the new year.

You going to transfer completely or just doing "All Arms P-Coy"?

Slightly off topic but in phase one do you train with recruits how are joining other regiments other than para, then on phase two does it become strictly recruits for para selection?

Er, since you're TA, worth noting that the TA CIC is a very different beast(ing).

The Combat Infantryman's Course you mentioned for regs in Catterick includes all of basic training etc, at the end of which there are a variety of tests & qualifying exercises (I assume, not done it, listen to Alfa who knows).

TA CIC is a week long, done purely as a qualifying course after you have completed basic recruits with your TA reg. CIC consists of: a couple of days phys, i.e. a PFT and a CFT; a couple of days on the ranges building up to doing APWT (tip: bring cash if you hate packed lunches, as a burger van tends to do the rounds); a 3-4 day field ex in Catterick training area covering basic infantry skills (no burger van ).

If you are considering going reg and doing the whole time at Catterick, ignore. If you are considering doing TA CIC from a non-inf TA reg, or transfering to 4 PARA and doing CIC over again, this might be what you are looking for.

[Also, if you are going the 4 PARA route or doing TA All-Arms, P-Coy is a week long, with one beat-up day introducing you to the events, then 4 days with 2 events a day; this differs from the reg 2-week course]

The Parachute Regiment run their own training for the whole of the course so you would only have other Para recruits in your platoon.

All the other Regiments have mixed platoons though.

Sore subject mate.

They moved P-Coy a week forward to a date when I can't do it if I fancy passing my masters. This isn't 100% bad, as I came off a 10-miler pretty badly the other weekend, so seems my phys is still questionable after fcuking my back over the summer. But unfortunately, it means I have had to postpone RMAS entry again to get P-Coy under my belt first in March. I seem fated to take the long route of life.

On the upside, less Sandhurst-enforced celibacy and more time to meet & greet hot blonde girls in London, and might be going into the same RMAS intake as a good mate now.

Find lemons, make lemonade etc.

PS How about you and reapplying? You always seem pretty switched on & clued up on these forums, you never consider going the officer route?
