New Application - AFCO presentation

Hi there,

I'm heading to the AFCO for my RAF presentation on Thursday. I was there last week for an initial chat with the careers officer, and have expressed my interest in applying for the Police Officer role.

Does anybody know what the presentation entails? Should I do anything (i.e. prepare anything, whatsoever) for this? I have a few questions which I'd like to ask, and I'll be doing this on Thurs also.

Many thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil,

No need to prepare anything, but have got a couple of tips.

Firstly, dress smart. Suit of course preferred, but otherwise smart trousers, a shirt and tie. Some idiot came to our one in jeans and a t-shirt - couldn't believe they let him in.

Secondly, bring a pad and pen with you and get as MUCH info as you possibly can bud. I didn't take many notes and I wish I had now.

Lastly, ask as many questions as you can and know who the Secretary of Defence is as I bet they'll ask you!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well with all of the press attention he has been receiving, I now know a lot about Des Browne :D

Thanks for the tips - I'm planning on dressing smart and going to prepare some questions this evening.

Cheers,
Neil

How did it go then Neil? Happy to proceed with your application I take it?

I've got my Filter Interview coming up in 3 weeks time so just prepping for that.

Good luck.

Sorry about the delay mate, the internet access at home has been broken for a bit.

I went for the filter interview and it all went well. No questions on current affairs at this stage, but a bit around what aircraft the RAF use, where the main UK and international bases are etc.

The Officer told me off the record that she would be recommending me to go forward to the OASC at Cranwell. I'm not gonna get my hopes up (as I know the decision is down to Cranwell at the end of the day) but I'm hopeful to get the chance to go and show what I can do.

Now it's fitness building time :)

Good luck with your interview (if it hasn't happened already!!)

Neil
