Ahh that time has been hard to get. I never used to be a runner, i was always a weights kinda guy obsessed with getting big and strong! I have been training off and on now for ages but with my prmc so soon im sorting my life out and i train twice a day now! weights n swimming in the morning and running in the evening when its cooler. I change that around and mix it up! But im very lucky to be best friends with two marines and they have told me everything plus they push me biiiiiggg time. :P

Solid scores Hearne.

My 3 miler is back under 20min, which isn't easy at 210lbs.

I know how you feel, am that exact weight myself. I can regularly do 3 miles in 20 mins now though which is a confidence booster.

has anyone else got any results that they don't mind putting it up, just to get an idea on how the results vary and passing, and it helps me to aim towards things.

i did my prmc ages ago but i kept track of all my scores so here they are

push ups: 63
sit ups: 103
chin ups: 6 (max they let you do)
3 Miler: passed it, the quickest i did it was 18:56
bottom field: was 3:48 and i beat that on my bottom field passout in training and i got 3:33

if those are your scores you shouldn't have any problems what so ever...good luck mate.

I know you finsihed first, pretty sweet mate, but when doing the 3 miler, is a gd idea to tail some one so you no you have got a decent time and to push your self, if you know what i mean

To be honest with you running scores arnt all that accurate, just depends on terrain e.g hills etc.

the 3 miler i do is alot uphill and i can do it in about 21.30 mins.
Flatout it takes me about 19.00 mins.

Pressups: 41 in 2 mins
Situps:75 in 2 mins
Pull-ups: 9
Bleeptest: 11.0 roughly

Challange for any fitness freaks: Try and beat 3.16 seconds on a 1000 meter row. It is very very tough!

:o

I take it you mean 3 minuets 16 seconds?

If you can row 1000m in 3.16 seconds then I think you may be in the wrong game! Forget the Marines Enter the Olympics! :P

Your scores look very good. Yeh i did mean 3 mins and 16 seconds. A bloke at our rugby club rows for England and he did it in 3 min 09 secs!!! So not far off and im determined to beat him.

I like using the rowing machine every once in a while too, but probably only get down to my local gym once every 2 weeks (I have weights/ sufficient space at home to exercise) when I do go down to the gym it's always fun to try and wreck one's self in a different way.

The way I look at my training is the more variety the better, try and condition the body in as many ways as possible.

Good luck with that one. sounds rather painful! :o

I personally am training like a mad man to try and improve my bleep test score at the moment to beet a mate of mine. Last year I took the school record (14.2) in my 3rd lesson of the day... he went and took that record off me 5th lesson of the day (14.7) talk about 5 minuets of fame!

I’m sure I can get 15+ now and reclaim that record. :D

Yeah? Bloody hell! Thats a good score. Im trying to get my bleeptest up at the moment. I have been doing it on grass in trainers so not the best as i kept slipping all over the place. So going to try it in football boots this week.

I nearly passed out doing the 1000 meter row, was absolutley knackered!

The fact that it was on a slippy/softer surface than you will be doing it on at PRMC should bump you're score up. So don't worry about it to much. You'll be fine.

I've never really struggled when I’ve done it personally (the lowest I ever got was 12.(something)) for me it's more about making sure I dig in and don't give up.

Getting that 14.2 was one of the best feelings ever, I really couldn't have ran another bleep and knowing I had push as hard as I could felt great (but also quite crappy physically after... but that goes with the territory) so this time I am determined too beet him, he's that one lad for me who all my life has been piping me at the finishing line  I've grown to hate second place more than last! I know I’ve been training harder than him and am confident I can beet him this time round.

As you might have guessed I’m extremely competitive (probably very un-healthy!)

Cheers

A now very psyched up Stokey

P.S. Once when I did the test I had foolishly ate a large bowl of cornflakes 30 minuets before, after coming form a dentist appointment... so I threw that up on the expensive sports hall floor... just to keep the P.E. staff working. :D
