I love that bit where he rams the guys head into the blackboard, and yet when he's next in shot he has no mark from it.
If this happens just tell them you fell in the shower, because everyone gets the shit knocked out of them in the RM
Where would we be without this movie Bullshit.

You need to read Jarhead before seeing the film IMO, while I thought the film was pretty decent, the book goes into more detail (including what happened to the D.I who slammed Swofford's head into the wall).

Disappointing film, more about being in the military than much action!
Lord of war is far better and more poignant...

I watched an interview with the real Swofford (sp?), and that was his point. He didn't want the film to have much action because he never saw any.
Obviously some bits had to be hollywood-ized to make the film remotely worth watching. Overall i thought it was ok though.
As for the book, I started to read it but got bored so never finished it. I agree that there is a lot more detail in the book however.

Jarhead proved that the formula it was trying to create, doesn't work.
We all know why it was boring, because the gulf was boring.
But, who want's to watch a boring film. Good effort though.

I found some of the jokes very funny, 'crispy critters'

, but very Americanized, like at the end with the Sarg shooting a AR in one hand and had a fat cigar in the other. A few phases in it I didn't like e.g. ''There is no better sniper then a US Marine sniper'. I am sure I would have prefered to read the book first but I didn't know it was out.

Crap film in my opinion, reminded me of the Thin Red Line.

I don't know how high rounds travel and how far but if they were firing rounds into the air in all directions with live rounds, surely the rounds would come back down and kill them all. And the part were those jets flew over the US soldiers and turned around and started trying to kill them. Just because one man was out of formation I doubt the poilots would just ignore the hummvs and try and kill them all. And the crawling guy who stops and stands up and just so happens to get shot in the head, there are some badly exagerated parts in that movie.

Liked the

because if a Royal Marine Cpl ever did that he would be out on his arse ASAP! This is a film about yanks, not the Royal Marines. Ok?
Once watched a Nod drop an SLR onto a Cpl's shoulder from the back of a 4 tonner (it hurt!). The Cpl leant down, picked up the SLR, looked at the trembling Nod and sayeth.........
"Do that again sunshine and I'll fecking well kiss yer on your lips on your Kings Squad Passout!" Suffice to say the Nod shit a brick cos the Cpl was me!
