RT + Boots and healed shin splints... do they mix?

Hey guys,

I am currently almost healed of my shin splints and as I have
PRMC on the 26th of March and possible RT not that long after that, I just have a couple questions

What are boots like to run in?
will they make my Shin splints flare up again and cause me more trouble?
Does anyone know of anyways to build up for boots?

Thanks

Andy

It is harder to run in boots but its just something that takes getting used to, like anything really.

Go online and buy some or get down to your nearest Army-Navy store and buy some boots so you can run in them.

Shin splints can get worse if the laces are done to tight around the shins.

Ok kool, cheers for the advice guys.

I have some boots coming tomorow.. I bought size 11's which were a bit too big.. so I have just bought some Size 10's.

They are the current issue combat boots. So I might start walking in them etc.

We were told not to run in boots after passing the PRMC. That might be because of shinsplints developing.

Yeah but the things with boots is that you have to break them in. So wear them around the house to stretch the leather, otherwise you'll find it harder to wear them in training.

They are Grade 1 used. I didnt wana get new cause theyd probably cause more damage.

Don't cross your laces when you put them in the laceholes prior to wearing them, don't wear boots that don't feel right and don't try running without some kind of decent insole under your heel and your instep.

don't worry on your prmc the boots you wear feel like trainers (mine did), think how many smelly feet have worn them boots, they are as broken in as a whores h*le, you'l be fine.

don't know if this really works or not but have watched a para training vid on youtube from the 80's and the training sgt tells the recruits to put there boots in a sink full of hot water to break them in.

have no idea if this is good advice or not. would rather just walk around in them to be honest.

Also worth checking out "Superfeet" insoles, less cushioning than sorbathanes, but help you foot shape more.
