Good afternoon gentlemen, long time lurker, first time poster here.

I would be grateful if someone could please help me with a few wally questions that I can’t find on search.

Q1 ) On my application form it asks about debt and financial obligations, what should I put down?
I am a university student so I owe tuition fees that the government borrows me till I graduate and I also have a £3,000 debt on my credit card.
Will any of this go against me?
(If it helps, with my credit card debt I am not over my limit and am making and have been making payments to clear it off in several months time.)

Do I send off my application or wait till all the debt is clear?

Q2 ) What are the travel opportunities like with the RMR? Do you get the chance to go abroad much? i.e. Norway. Or is that only for the regular guys?

Q3 ) After training, can you volunteer for active service and how long would you be away for? i.e. If I have 4 months of free time and I’m up for it, will they ship me out and let me earn some £££ then send me back for afterwards or is there a minimum time you must serve i.e. 6 months duty etc.

Q4 ) What is the pay for active service like?

Thanks guys.

P.S. KiloAlpha, I like your slideshow mate, would be good to see more of that kind of stuff, very interesting.

A overseas tour is normally 6 months with 3 months operational training before hand and a month or so leave afterwards .Thats for the ta anyway
would think the rmr would be similiar. So with 4 months spare your not going to the sand pit .May have the chance to attach yourself to a big exercise somewhere or do a long course.

im currently at uni(too late to f@#k it off now  ) and when i finish (this year) il owe something in the region of 13 grand! this is purely loan from the slc/government,so will it count towards my debt as i only have to pay it back at a small percentage of whatever i earn over say 1500 a year if that makes sense-works out usually approx 5 pound a week once you start work.personally ive got no debt to loan companies or credit cards etc so will i still have to declare my student loan??

I have £9000 student loan, but this does not come into the picture as you only start paying back when you earn £15k or more which won't happen whilst you are at CTC.

I have a question for you. If you are still a student then why did you not take out the £3k per annum student loan? Why the credit card instead?

Declare everything! If you dont they could discharge you plus its for your benefit.

I told them about my student loan. You will be earning under the threshold anyway so no repayments :D

To answer your question mate, don't worry about your student debts, just put down everything that you owe, it won't hold you back at all. I imagine it's looking for anyone that may have significant monetary debts that may cause a problem, they understand what your finances will be like as a student. Best of luck.

Thanks for the response fellas. Just one question left though for anyone in the know.

What are the travel opportunities like in the RMR? is travel only for the regs?
