I wouldn't give it top marks on the style, and just because it's approved of by the army PTI's, dosn't mean it's the only trainer they would recommend. But still, If I had £70 and was looking for a trainer I would probably try them on.

You can get better for less. Salomon do a pretty sexy (by which I mean fit for purpose) little peice of footwear for £55 i think it is.

i wouldn't pay 64.99 for those

i'm quiet happy to use my adidas trainers which cost me £35 about 3 years ago, they are still going strong after many miles on the road!!

Some of you may be interested in reading training shoe reviews at runnersworld.co.uk. Also plenty of training advice on there to improve running.

I recently picked up a pair of Mizuno Waverider 8 cushioned running shoes for £35 on Ebay. For that price they are very decent and worth buying even just for road use.

Wake up? I'd not yet gone to bed!

I used to be like that. At night was my only alone time without my mum saying do this do that so I made the most of it considering I don't have a job untill I get into the marines. My normal bed-time was 6.00am and then I woke up at around 12ish-1.00 pm. Unfortunaly I couldn't continue this so I only had 3 hours sleep 2 nights ago so I would be tired last night. Went to sleep 9ish, woke up around 3ish and then went to sleep again for 4 hours at 2ish so now I won't be tired tonight and I will have to do the whole thing all over again :(. Bah. Anyway, I wouldn't but these shoes now that people have stated the prices they got other shoes from.

Stinky, make sure you get your sleep pattern sorted before PRMC or you will fail the first day through tiredness. My plan has been this:

Going to bed

9pm each night: start to wind down for the evening, watch telly, shower etc
10pm: lights out, phone off, no exceptions

Waking up

4 weeks before PRMC: 9am start at the latest
3 weeks before PRMC: 8am start
2 weeks before PRMC: 7am start
1 week before PRMC: 6am start

I hate going to bed so need a routine otherwise I will be screwed. I find this gradual program of early mornings helps me adjust. If I can get to bed before 11pm I usually wake early without the alarm on anyway.

Sound advice there Wedge.

It's amazing how the amount of sleep you get can affect performance. If you don't have a regular sleep pattern or have a poor one you will also (I found) find it much harder to get motivated to train.

I used to be crap at getting up, but I found that if you force yourself the first few times it gets easier and easier. I regularly get up at 6 now to either go running or do a bodyweight circuit and make sure I'm in bed by 10. Even if I'm having a rest day I still try to get up at the same time just to keep the routine.
