SO19 do the paras also have people in the joint special forces suport group? If so do you know if the marines have their own special forces support group which is the equivalent of 1 Para

Cheers Harry :-?

Harry, the core element of the JSFSG is 1 Para along with a smaller contingency of RM and RAF Regt.

(Just so it's clear, I'm not serving)

I could imagine.

How many marines and RAF reg are down there compared to paras (numbers) if anyone knows. Just out of interest.

I believe its a year and a half and 1 operational tour you have to spend in 2 or 3 para before you can apply to go to 1 para, who at the moment are doing lots of ally stuff.

Does anyone know how hard the selection process would be compared to actually joining the Special Forces?
God is a marine, he failed airborne selection.

There isnt currently a selection process to get into 1 para. Very likely to be in the future though, however this wont be as long or as hard as the SF selection.
