Possible Documentry on Royal Marine 32 week training

Post by Mauser »

I got a phone call last night from my mate dave who is currently in week 3 of his training, we were talking about what im in for etc etc, then he went on to say that the troop thats just ahead of him in training or behind one of the two has been chosen to be filmed while in training, so from what he was saying it might be like the documentry ages back where it followed recruits week by week t'ill pass out or it may just be for a recruitment video for the recruit centres, who knows but he was saying he was *beep* to have missed out on it, so fingers crossed for a good in sight into training but im sure most of us will already be in there when and if it comes out :)

Your mate will be in Felias and Nicko's troop then. They will tell us more when they have time to come on here.

Imagine if its a tv documentry though, the lucky buggers.

God i hope not... Not that i wouldn't love to watch it however. It's just... Felias is likely to be the person to volunteer for every info and will be able to dispense his "training advice" to the nation...

I am trying to track down the original Documentary following recruits at CTC that was broadcast a few years ago (Circa 2002 ?) on ITV does anyone recall the name of the programme or production company ?
Even better does anyone have a copy ?
The less than helpfull staff at ITV and STV refuse to help.

It may have been called "Royal Marines the Green Beret's" can anyone cofirm this ?

The troop that started today are the troop that are supposedly getting filmed from day 1 to passing out. There was a chance for some of the boys from my PRMC to start today and someone mentioned it to them in the galley. Not sure if this is 100% gen or not, it came throught the nodvine.

I have been told that the programme was called "The Royal Marines: the Green Beret's" yet foxtrotgolf thinks it was called "Winning the Green Beret" can anyone who has the definite answer please PM me.
I hope to contact the ITV Film Library to confirm whats what and im sending a letter to ITV for a rerun, apparently they "don't do requests" yet their happy to put fecking Corrie on 10 times a week and constant reruns of some bollocks that was old when yer nan was a lass.

On another note does anyone have a link to any RMC files on the net along the lines of the Pcoy vid on C4.com ??

with the royal marines recruiting problems, i think this does make sense - a docu. on the beeb would do wonders for application numbers.
Recruit Tests - Passed

-- Injured --
2nd Interview - Passed

PJFT - 9.39 Passed
RMAD - 20th November

I used to have this on video, was really impressed by it - warts and all. One of the corporals reminded me of mine on the cadre course at Lichfield.

Will see if I can dig it out, its a real must see for anyone going to RM scary and inspirational at the same time
