went down to lympstone

Post by mitch_boxing »

Just back from a week down in Exmouth and got to see the outside gates of lympstone  , the endurance course on woodbury common  , royal marine ranges near where I stayed  and also found out that royal marine ranges that fire LSW's are quite noisy but I found this experience very good :D . Got some questions about exmouth area, if any ex or serving royals could answer, would be very appreciated........

1. Why arent the recruits aloud to drink in exmouth, they have to go to exeter apparently?

2. On the endurance course, does anyone know if your actually aloud to have a go on it, the royal marines werent there when I had a go on it. I think it might not be owned by the MOD?

3. Why is it so hard to avoid getting wet on the endurance   , I was only there as a civvy in his non-military clothes, put my foot right in this bit of mud next to peters pool :D , totally lost my foot haha, can understand why it is so hard with this type of mud that is just like sinking sand but trying to walk around peters pool is so god damn hard, would of preferred to just use peters pool, has a rope and everything  . Also, I have seen the video of endurance course on that fighting fit program but them steep hills leading into peters pool are amazing, I went sprinting down them, nearly broke my legs though  .

Well good experience, lots of nice pubs round exmouth and lympstone, shame you cant see more of lympstone looking on the outside of the front gates but ill soon find out soon enough when im joining up  .

Cheers,

public can have a go on it i guess ,but most wouldnt bother, when i was down there only old people and their dogs were around. :P

you cant aviod gettign wet even when i was down there for summer got soaked+ sun was a scorecher realy hard work  .
wost bit is gettign wet then running again, due to water fillign up ur combat jacket thus making u feel 10 stone heavyer :P

1. Because thats were trained ranks often go out and live, bumping into recruits on a night out would be bad for everyone me thinks!

2. I dont think you'd be breaking any laws going round it, but why in the feck would you want to? Or want to be seen doing so?

3. I think you'll find its impossible to avoid getting wet at any point during training...

I've got to question anyones mental state if they willing spend their spare time on Woodbury common? (dog walkers aside)...

Who knows next you can gas yourself in your bedroom

Nah I only didnt wanna get wet because I was in civvy clothes  . Still got quite wet even when I tried to avoid peters pool. I was just stating the fact that endurance is so god damn hard not to get soaked  . I aint some puff, if I had military clothes on (on that particular day) id go through the fu**ing water tunnel!!!!! 8)

I can safely say I did always fear getting wet and thus cold and thus very upset. Saying that I think thats the same for any nod...

'wrap juice' and 'paper mache marine' spring to mind.

My advice, is experience all the joys of training, like everyone else...when you get there.

Bloody good job you didn't meet this bloke then.

Image

He gets right noughty when Eijuts play around with his tunnel.
Thirty Five years he's been doing the job.
Surpised you didn't suss out his little Hut to the left of Peters Pool.

Just who in their right mind would want to go and look at the Endurance Course anyway? :o
If you get into the Corp I can assure you that you will soon learn to avoid the bloody thing at all costs.
