Hi, what are your techniques and tips for bulling shoes. I am using the Selvyt cloth, Kiwi polish and water approach?

I have that there are a few different ways of doing this, but what are your best ways?

I've never tried it myself, but i have it on good authority that if you do the base layers with Kiwi Brown then complete it with Kiwi Black it brings up a dog's bollox shine.

I can't swear by it 'cos i've not tried, but i've heard it from loads of people.

I use a jewellery cloth. Dampen it, wrap it round a finger, put a bit of kiwi black polish on it, then go round in small circles on my shoe. I just keep doing that over and over again over my shoe. With time they look the dogs b******s.

Use KIWI Parade Gloss as apposed to the standard stuff and just some yellow duster. Putting on brown under black can work but it isn't really worth the fuss. If you are crap at it, find a mate that can sort your shoes and you iron his kit in return. Teamwork. Oh and DON'T ever set fire to polish to melt it. It stinks, burns away all of the wax content and can cause a bit of a fire in the BB if spilt! Not good

Maybe this is just me but I find parade gloss is more prone to flaking off! Always at the most innapropriate times!! I prefer normal Kiwi black polish :P :P

Cheers for the replies, I've got the hang of it now, use soaking wet cotton wool and loads of polish. Looking pretty good now, need to be ready for passing out on 14th Feb, if all goes to plan.

I use a slight damp cloth, and very little polish! Each to their own, there's no right or wrong.

The way we're taught in the ATC is to get a cotton bud and dip it in water, then squeeze most of it off, leaving just a little. Mould it into a pad and use as normal, it works for me.
