Living expenses whilst training.

I'm due to start at RTS Halton on 4th January for 9 weeks and then move to NCAITC at Cranwell for 10 weeks after that, living in the OACTU Mess.
Can anyone tell me what i can expect to pay for accomodation and dining during my time on these 2 courses and also advise me of any unexpected incidental charges that i may have to fork out for ?
This would be really appreciated, thanks.

I've heard that you're expected to contribute to your sqn's charities. There's also mess bills which include the bar, magazine subscriptions for the mess, etc...
These are the only ones I can think of Rizza.

I got an answer for this over at TSR - but if anyone else has any more info for me it would still be very useful and appreciated.
I don't believe i have to worry about mess bills & charidees just yet though, not at Halton at least - probably not until i get to the Sgt's Mess at Cranwell.
If anyone can confirm or deny this would be helpful, too.

Joking aside I reckon it's the relationships forums that the system here is picking up on, plus all the weapons stuff in the Armed forces forum.
No problem, just means I have a novel to read every evening when I log on to TSR.

Accom at cranditz for NCAs is at the OACTU mess, not the SGTs

The literature i have states that it's the OACTU Mess for the first ten weeks whilst doing the NCAITC Course, then into the Sgt's mess for the 26 week WSOp course. ???

Fair play, if it's in the literature I guess it's right. I just heard OACTU and assumed is was for the full course.

That would be like demanding pilots stay in No 1 mess until they get their wings.
NCA stay in one of the OACTU blocks alongside IOT cadets until they graduate. Then, they're sergeants, so quite rightly stay in the sergeants' mess.

Not to break too much from the NCA acomodation discussion, but does anyone know how long the IOT people stay in No.1 mess before they move into CHOM - on the new IOTC.

You do go into the Sgt's Mess at Cranwell after your initial 10 week NCAITC course there. Expect to pay about 30p a day for your mess bill. This covers such things as newspapers, Sky TV, maintenance (Sheets/pillowcases) and things like that. You will also pay food and accomodation charges in addition to this. Decent mess bar though...87p Pint for larger.
