I wouldnt worry about it unless its a long term thing mate, My friends brother has got a metal pin in his knee and he is a ML. As always though it is better to consult your AFCO.

I have to have an op on my knee to sort out my cartilage and i spoke to the AFCO and they said it would bar me for a year.
Phone your AFCO they will tell you.
Hope this helps, Cheers Bird.

I've had surgery on both ankles and both knees, - should I forget the Royal Marines?
Trouble is, I can't forget the Royal Marines because they had me for 23 years and it is difficult to forget that.
I might add - that the surgery I had, was a direct result of 23 years with the RM.
You younger guys, thinking about joining, might just ponder on that, although, I think things have changed a bit from my day - or at least I hope they have!!

A one line answer is NO! For a lot of various reasons.
But it is worth thinking - that some of the things you are required to do in the Royal Marines - (Or the Paras/SAS), may well not be beneficial in later life!!

Unless you like Orthopaedic Hospital Wards Sneaky!
The most common injuries in the Corp are Knee, Leg and back injuries. Not surprising considering what Royal does for a living.
Also the past does come back to haunt you if you have had an active career within the Corp. Sneaky being a prime case with his knee problems.
In fact quite a few of us "Old and Bold" are in the same boat as Sneaky. Bits keep dropping off or stop working as they should!!!
