Ibiza is something else. Nothing in the UK can compare.
I was out there for a week (that went far too quickly) during August because my brother was DJing out there. Absolutely brilliant time.
Did you watch the sunset whilst you were out there? I got some really good pictures which I'll try and post if I can.
I know what you mean about the drugs though mate, they're everywhere out there. I think we were the only people in the clubs who weren't on pills or other stuff.

drugs are for losers
Nice one danny post those sunset pictures if you can mate.
I'd love to just sit in cafe del mar, balearic tunes playing with a nice cold wet, watching the sun go down, that would suit me down to the ground.

Everything Ibiza is - the whole scene was built on drugs. Now its a commercial paradise where tourists are shipped in, giving the 'Ibiza experience' and shipped out minus alot of cash. Look at Manumission opening up with Babyshambles and Kaiser Chiefs ffs - this is not in the sprit or ethos of the island which is now just a sell out full of drunk 18year olds looking for lots of sex.
Rant over

Why is it the only people who say that are ones who seem never to have touched them? How do you know exactly?
Over several years of doing far too many drugs of all varieties, the people I met, was friends with and took with were by far the most fun to be around, much more so than the huge number of drunken morons within hurling distance. Most recreational drugs don't make most people violent, sick, unpleasant or give them a nasty change of personality like alcohol - at most they make you horny, quick, happy with everyone you see, or a bit weird. Of course there are people who overdo drugs a la Trainspotting and cause problems for themselves and others, but you've never seen a drunk on the street? Potato potato.
Had plenty of parties during this time with all kinds there, and today I would still go with the drug crowd 100% if I wanted a good time (except that it wouldn't be, because I wouldn't have the faintest clue what they were going on about if I wasn't taking, heh). I would also
invite them to one 100% of the time because they are much better guests than heavy drinkers.
Anyway, drugs are bad for all sorts of reasons, which is why I don't take them anymore, but most drug use is no worse than drinking, and it does irritate me when people slavishly regurgitate the govts 'drugs are for losers' lines without ever having experienced it for themselves.

Call it an educated guess. Have you?

Well your educated guess is wrong i'm afraid.

Fine, it's pointless arguing about it when we have no way of knowing either way, but it still stands for the other 99.9% of the population.

Markd, I am in no way directing this at you, just taking your quote for the sake of my point.
The phrase "drugs is for losers" is as true as "The military brainwashes people".
It seems that the common opinion of most people destined for the military is of the "Drugs/Losers" camp, and that most people who use recreational drugs have their opinion firmly planted in the stereotypical hippy "Military brainwashes" camp.
Both of these views are heavily founded on ignorance. The fact that people from either camp devote very little of their time to finding anything out about the subject they are so vocally opposed to doesn't help matters at all. There is a lot of anti-drug/anti-military propaganda flowing around the respective forms of media available to each group, both of which sound absurd to the groups that they actually concern.
The truth - the military doesn't brainwash people, and recreational drugs like cannabis, mushrooms etc simply will not turn you into a granny-mugging crack addict.
