Hey all,

Just been chatting to a friend of mine who is interested in serving in the RMP; however, he has a few questions he would like answered. The reason I am posting them is because he doesn't have access to the net, so he can't sign up, unfortunately.

Anyway, the questions are:

- What is the selection proceedure for the RMP?
- Is there high competition for places in the RMP?
- Are there many opportunities for serving abroad?
- Are there many opportunities for promotion within the RMP?

Thats all he asked for at the moment, as we only had a brief chat.

PS Hes getting ready to go through the application process shortly, as soon as he finds the time from work. In the mean time, it would have been nice to have some kind of additional information to give him before he starts.

There's a few ex monkeys sniffing around these forums, goldie looking chain springs to mind but aint seen him for awhile.

- What is the selection proceedure for the RMP? It's the same as the rest of the army, you have to score 60 on your BARB test, and attend RSC. Happy days.
- Is there high competition for places in the RMP? Not that I'm aware of, they have fairly regular intakes I think.
- Are there many opportunities for serving abroad? Yes. It's the Army. Kind of.
- Are there many opportunities for promotion within the RMP? Erm, most people I know of tend to stagnate around full screw for a while.. Although that's mainly based on hearsay.

What is the selection proceedure for the RMP?
Same as everyone else, RSC, i think a technical test at the rsc e.g math test depending on GCSE results or other qualifications.

- Is there high competition for places in the RMP?
I dont think they take in as often as other units, the engineers have a slow intake and by that i am guessing the same for the rmps

- Are there many opportunities for serving abroad?
bottom line, you need police everywhere to look after the grunts so i guess so just as much as any other unit, with the exception of infantry i guess.

- Are there many opportunities for promotion within the RMP?
As a rmp you get promoted straight to lance c as to give you some authority other grunts and such.

Anyway, hes been through to his local AFCO and signed up - he just completed his BARB test last Friday, so hes on his way
