Just was wondering if once you start basic if the PTI's scream at you a lot, because there wasn’t any screaming at all on the PRMC. So are the PTI's on there leashes for the PRMC to not put you off entering?

We were talking about it in my pre-entry briefing and the 2 guys that where there defiantly seemed to think that the PTI's change a lot after PRMC (shouting wise) don’t get me wrong its not going to put me off.

Every (in basic training) video I’ve seen the corporals just seem to be encouraging, rather then screaming at them. Maybe its only if you do something wrong.

Yeh they like a good scream from time to time, it's the strikers that will give you the most grief not your troop PTI..

Having been attached to the Army and the RM during my Naval career Ive spent time in my plimsols with PTIs from the RN/APTC and RM.

The RM ones tend to shout the least and their attitude (to non-RM ranks at least) was one of, well do it and we'll help you if you dont want to do it fark off. In my opinion anyway. It seemed to add more individual pressure with them not shouting and raving. At least when the APTC scream blue murder you hate them and crack on just because he's a cnut. I found RM beastings harder, the pressure harder but I left with better fitness and more discipline and less reliance on others.

if you fcuk up you will get a gob full of abuse but thats natural! i find it quite amusing when the pti's go from being friendly and encouraging to suddenly snapping and seeing viens pop from their necks!
it helps in a way because who wants to stop and quit on a run when one of them are behind you screaming their bollocks off?

What a gay question........Of course they shout, but who cares...After about 2 weeks, being shouted at is nothing.......There was a PTI called NOD KILLER when I was there, he was a psychopath (wasn't aloud to be a striker for a while as he hit a nod). He used to stand on the diving board and scream for an hour and 30 minutes as we collected rep SA80s of the bottom of the pool....If your scared of being shouted at don't join the marines...infact don't join the military.....jesus christ infact go and join the girl guides.......

When you get passed week 15 the shouting and abuse subsides and they respect you slightly (ever so slightly) more...Once you pass out they're calling you by your first name and buying you pints.....

Obviously the idea of some civil servent working in the MOD as the Army also brought in the same idea for its recruits in training.

The trouble was is that the regiments still lived by the old school ways and the poor lads did'nt know what hit em when they got to there units.

Im glad to say they have now binned that idea.
