it will yes, he will probably be perminatly below entry standards, if it is on his medical records, which i spose it would be if he had his liver pumped
he will have the right to appeal by sending a letter and possibly his case may be reconsidered

They may see that as mentally unfit for duty. Id have thought someone capable of attempted suicide would be classed as a risk to be employed in a potentially very stressfull job.

any self harming will bar him from entry, he will be asked at the medical.if he lies and gets caught he`ll be discharged. thats the facts i`m not just guessing.

If he lies he can also be charged, if caught later on.

if you dont mind me asking where have you heard this?
was it written in stone or were you told by someone
the reason im asking mate is cos i know someone who appealed against a bar for self harming and got in
i was thinking it might be different because it was army and not marines, but then i think the regulations are tri-service

It's not really a good idea to have someone who's tried topping themselves in the past around live rounds, don't you think?
Maybe there's some career paths in Iraq he could look into?

you say that though mate but the guy im on about is a lance cpl after only a couple of years and commando trained regular army

Yeah, I see what you're saying, my comment was a little short-sighted.

well i understand where your coming from ashley because if i hadn't met this guy i would have probably said the same thing
for the record i dont think its a good idea for the army to be lenient on drug use or self-harming
but if a person can demonstrate that theyve turned themselves around, why not give them the chance to prove it is what i think now
sometimes people who've had a shitty time of things become all the more determined

Hmmm this has made me kind of worry as I have a branding on my arm (i was young and drunk) its on my bicep. But then again I have no records of self harming and suicide attempts so it should be ok....any thoughts?

If I had a scar where I branded myself I'd just tell them someone else did it, but I can't imagine them holding something like that under scrutiny unless it says something strange or looks like you have done it yourself.

Just say its a UDI (unidentified drunken injury)... they are easy enough to pick up!
Got a whacking big scar across the back of my left hand from post-pub wrestling that I don't exactly remember getting...
