Apparently ammo tech is good for quick promotion, you're a lance corporal straight out of phase 2 training for one.

I was told by officer recruiting that INT have 5 places a year. A good degree will realistically be needed to get one of them.

i have heard of the ammo tech, but i am not exactly sure as to what they do! do they just find which is the best ammo to use ect. also is it a very boring job because i intend to do the full 22 years service and i do not want to get stuck in a job that isnt very exciting.

Ammo tech leads to EOD (bomb disposal), I can think of a lot more boring jobs!

Without trying to be a dick, isn't it more important that you get a job that you enjoy, that isn't boring and that you will do well in? Rather than one that will get you quick promotions and not much else...?
Just my thoughts....

Your having a larff fella, you mentioned spooks, that's gotta be one of the most boring jobs in the whole of the armed forces.
By promotion, are you seeking high payment, greater levels of responsibilty or just after 22 you want to leave with the Tait & Lyle? Do you want to join the ranks or try for a commission? Do you want a job that'll take you to the hot spots (and I don't mean Teneriffe, I mean hostile combat areas) or the relative safety of the rear echelons (don't start with the remf stuff lads)
Plus, and think about this hard, just what type of job do you think wouldn't get tedious after 22 years? Trust me fella, every job has it's down days............

i am looking for a job that i will eventually be able to put in to become a commissioned officer, so far ammo tech seems to be the best option because you go into bomb disposal which i will enjoy. also during my time in the army i would like to pick up skills such as skydiving, scuba diving, ect but i have heard the this can inhibit my chance of promotion.

i might suggest you spend a significant amount of time talking to someone knowledgeable along at your local AFCO.

Do you realise that EOD is a very specialised job, one which many people apply for and very few get selected for? It's not just about your technical ability, it's about you working in a very close knit team so your social skills need to be bang on (pardon the pun).
Go to your AFCO fella and see what scores you get, then look at the trade list they give you. You might find that even with your civvi qualifications, for that time of year, there just isn't the vacancies for you in your desired trade.
This forum can give you loads of gen on all aspects of every trade, but it can't tell you that your desired trade has vacancies and therefore, until you've een to the AFCO, everything you're told on here is just bumff. Get some idea of what the AFCO want and what you want, then you'll find all the help you need in here (sorry for the rambling, but me & my mate Stella are catching up)

Save some brain cells for Friday mate!
You forgot to tell him that whilst all the normal people are running away from the device he'd be the crazy fool going towards it!
