Fitness for PRMC

Hey all,
Just been going through some of the past topics (from 2003-2004) and, to be honest, I am starting to get a little worried now
Hopefully, I will be doing my PRMC within the next month or so, and my stats are as follows:
1.5 Miler in 9:07
3 Miler in 19:26 (under 21 min. consistently)
69 Press-ups in 2 min. (over 60 in 2 min. consistently)
72 Sit-ups in 2 min. (over 70in 2 min. consistently)
7 full over grasp pull-ups (over 6 consistently)
A lot of other potential recruits put my stats to shame, well and truly
I was just wondering - am I really ready for PRMC with the above stats, presuming I am determined enough mentally?
I'm interested on other peoples take, especially those who have actually attended PRMC - passed or failed.
Thanks in advance
JD

Yes! a lot of them do but how many of them are true and accurate?
Like Lew says stop worrying and get down there! You'll be fine if you show some mettle!

Those are good scores mate. Have confidence!

Thanks guys.
You're all right, I need to stop worrying and just give it all I've got
Still a little nervous and worried, especially after reading recent PRMC failures and other potential recruits scores (which may or may not be true

).
Also, waiting around for a date really does get to you (well me

).
Cheers again,
JD

Yeah them scores are fine mate.
I know what you mean about worrying on the build up to your PRMC mate. I was in the same boat. As soon as you get down there though, yes you are a bit worried, but there's also 60 or so other recruits down there feeling the same way.

They are good scores
I dont think you should have much to worry about in that department as long as your mentaly ready for it and have the determanation.

For pressups you need to do them right. Not the half way one or the somalian swan ones(quater of way looking like a swan flapping). It is arse up and chest to ground/fist not the sternum. But if your doing they correctly then your score thashes mine. But My chinups thrash yours by another 7. Everyone has weeknesses. How long have you trained for?

Hey Felias
Yeh, they are the correct marine style press-ups - arms tucked in, should length apart, right down to the bottom, then back up straightening the arms. Press-ups, sit-ups and sprints I find the easiest, since thats mainly all I have ever done
You sure that you are doing the pull-ups correctly
Great pull-up score though. Pushing myself on a good day, I can do 9
How much do you weigh and whats your height? I'm 5'8" and 11.5 stone.
EDIT: I'm thinking about doubling up my training days in prep for PRMC i.e. steady hard run in the morning and intense circuit with sprints in the evening.
If I do two days back-to-back with rest days in between, would I avoid overtraining and improve in the four to eight weeks I have before my PRMC?

Personally, I reckon people worry about thier test scores too much - yes, they are a good indicator of fitness, but during your PRMC what you can max at is probably the last thing on your mind - you just do the work that you are told to do the best you can.
Ayrey, judging by your scores you have a good level of fitness and should do well. But it all depends what you do on the day. They are looking for determination and motivation. My fitness let me down - I knew that I probably wasnt fit enough even though I was motivated and determined throughout (thats what I reckon anyway) - I just couldnt physically give anything else. i wasnt confident. You should be confident of your fitness with those scores and should put all your efforts into remaining motivated and determined.

I've started doing two-a-days, pretty much what your thinking of doing. I do a shortish (3-4) run at a steady 8.5min/mile pace in the morning. Then a tough circuit in the night. The reason I do the run is to get the miles in, as although the circuit is intense the actual shuttle sprints etc probably only come to a mile or so at most. Anyways it good practice for the first day when you do the 3miler then the bleep test afternoon.
I find it fine, but im careful not to go sprinting away on the morning run.

ayrey you sound very fit mate, good luck. Iv just passed my pjft today

with a score of 9'17 secs which was the max i cud get on the machine

as when i tryed upping my speed it never moved from level 16 grrr, where as the one i use at my local gym max's at 20

... Anyways just waiting to hear for my prmc date now

although im off on holiday for 2 weeks nxt sat, so should get a prmc for end of july or august i hope, gunna have to train whilst on holiday tho

lol .. Anyone got any advise up till my prmc on training wise ? i stand at: 3 mile = 20.20, pressups 50, situps 65 and chins 12... and have just started doing sprints.

I am 6'2 and weight 78kg. naturally I have weak pressups. Situps I can manage 80 in 1:30. Been training very hard. I keep it at that score by doing 1 set max, eg doing like 145 situps in 1 set at stead pace. Not timed. Yeah I am doing the correctly the cin ups I mean. But I am pushing to the limit when I do 14 and half.

Well done Sandaz - I wonder if we'll be on a PRMC together
I hate sit-ups with a passion, and are the worst part of my training, lol. Just can't seem to do them with speed, so they get boring and take up training time
Looks like you won't have a prob passing either
Just been chatting to GGHT via PM, and he was saying that it doesn't matter how fit you are, you're still going to be pushed to the point where you want to quit, so you'll find it'll come down to mental attitude more than fitness. Gonna keep that in mind for sure!
Thanks guys for the enthusiasism and encouragement - much needed
