Post by DaNieL_UK »

Looking for people who have served, or know about this career.
From what i have read, this career looks to be the most interesting.

So, any info about this will be helpfull:
Pros and Cons,
Lifestyle,
Dificulty upon entry etc etc..

Well i considered that option, but they have to score like a high score in the recruiting test. and straight after that they have to do a maths examination. So i hope your maths is up to scratch... :)

If air engineering is what you really want, just apply. They guys there are always there to help and advise you. You'll have to do the RT test which is on basic numeracy. mech comprehension, verbal reasoning etc. Its out of 120 and you need 80+ i think. Then i had my interview where they ask you everything about you family, hobbies and what you know about the job your applying for. Then straight after he put the RE test test in front of me :o Its out of 40 and you need 13+. Its on GCSE B standard maths which wasn't that difficult. I mean i only answered about 25. After that i had my medical and PJFT and thats it. I wasn't sure what you meant by getting asked questions before training so i just tried to explain what process i went through. :)

Yeh, sure I was I/C of the 05/02 class until a month ago when I took my PVR option to go to college and apply to the Air Force as a pilot. Training is much easier when you get to Phase two training at Sultan, compared to Raleigh, whatever you wanna know just ask, you can add me on MSN I'll be sure to advise you on anything, Mark.

Hi all,

I applied for RM a no. of months ago & sat the RT's & passed but decided to stop my application as I had a change of heart. Recently I have been enquiring about the AET trade in the RN, so much so that I contacted my AFCO & asked if my RT scores were still valid & if my scores would be good enough to try for AET in the RN. To my surprise my scores were satisfactory & still valid. The chap in the AFCO, who was actually RM, told me that I would also have to sit & maths test for this trade. So i was just wondering how hard is this maths test ?? i.e. what type of questions could you expect & would they provide you with revision material before hand to give you an idea & so that you can prepare fully. Also, this trade interested me as I understand it offers a 'fast track' scheme to Petty Officer for those deemed worthy. How difficult would you think it is to get onto this scheme??, has anyone on here ever been chosen for this scheme or going through it at the moment??. It also says in the RN literature, on this trade, that even if your not successful getting onto the fast track scheme you can still get promoted as little as 6 months after the fast track scheme candidates, is this realistic?? & how good generally are the promotional opportunities in this area of the RN????. Sorry for such a lengthy thread (just realised how dodgy that sounds!!!!!!)
