On my PRMC the other week, the Sgt Major was giving us a brief on specialisations, etc once you have finished training. He came onto the swimmer canoeist and started going on about all the shit, with them being put with the SAS and how they should be seperate units. He then said something about a new branch being organised within the marines, whose purpose it is to solely track down and eliminate terrorist groups. I don't really see the point in this new unit being put together when the only real enemy our SF's fight today are terrorists. Anyone got any views on this matter??

The Telegraph quoted sources the other day claiming that up to 200 Royal Marines will form part of the new 1 Para/Ranger Regt or whatever they decide to call it. I imagine this will be a 2 year draft for a bootneck as with most.
