Hey,
Its like this, I have got an interview tomorrow with a captain from the royal marines, the question is do I call him sir in the interview? (As an ex space cadet I know his rank) I ask because last time I was with an officer in an interview, after the interview he told me I should have called him sir. But as this is 'chat to get to know me' would I have to? Any one know?
...Cheers

1.) What is a space cadet?
2.) Call him Sir. He has pips on his shoulder and should be called "Sir", as
a matter of respect for his rank.
3.) I don't see you passing the interview. You have no respect for other
peoples achievements.

A space cadet is an air cadet. And when did I say that I had no respect for to other people’s achievements? And I did pass so ha!

My reply would have to be;
You couldn't recognise the fact that the "Captain/ Squadron Leader/Lt. Cdr" who had pips/stripes etc. on his shoulders, should be called sir?.
And you were a "space cadet?" What on earth did they teach you in the ATC. I find it very sad that you passed. I hope you didn't join Her Majesties Royal Marines, because you wouldn't get much further!

Mate lets be serious here everyone takes the piss out of the ATC. I could easily recognise his rank that’s why I said first off that he was a captain but in a general chat to know me I asked for advise (my plan was to call him sir) but just in case, you know. I also find it very sad that you are taking the piss out of me over the Internet when you have never met me.

I dont think Sneaky is taking the piss, one thing you may learn if you get anywhere near the Corps, is that when a Bootneck takes the piss it is done in a more subtle way. Anything further crosses the line of taking the piss and being pissed off and usually ends up in a smack.
You come across as having a very know it all, Jack the Lad attitude that wont bode you well if your application is succesful.
My advice, keep the bone questions to yourself, grow up and show some respect.
At the end of the day Sneaky is what you aspire to be, so button it and enjoy the forums, I think its the closest to military life you will come.

Anyone else want to jump on the bandwagon?
Perhaps a forum should be made purely for those who want to vent anger, or generally slag off civvies/walters/women/those less experienced than themselves. Delete as applicable or do all of them depending on how small minded you are feeling.
Atleast he asked, better to ask than to keep schtum and make a mistake right? You've just taught him that asking a question (even a stupid question) results in a slagging, lets hope the next he time he asks a question it isn't 'What happens if I pull the trigger?' with the barrel pointed in your direction.
Obviously Sneaky would be able to outrun the bullet; whilst carrying The Doc, but the rest of us mere humans might not be so fortunate.
