With the recent influx of RAF Police people onto the site, would it be good idea to give them a dedicated forum? How about we call it

http://www.rafpolice.co.uk/modules.php?name=ForumTopics ?

If every trade in all the forces each had a Forum dedicated just to that one trade. The bloody Forums would run to umpteen dozen pages!

All your suggestion would result in would be that loathseome "Them & US" attitude which Hacks me off Bigtime. I'm an Ex Bootneck but still have a gander at all the other service forums. Anyone can look at any Forum, comment in it, and thats it. We are all Ex/Serving/wanting to serve people so why bother about starting little Cliques? As it is this Forum was started primarily for Royal Marines only, but has expanded over the years. It's also nice to talk to people who led a totally different way of life to mine when they served in the Forces.

I accept that over on the Subs Forum we have the Retreat and the Bunker but anyone can be admitted to either as long as the people already in them have no objections. They are there so Prongs can't annoy us by posting stupid bloody threads and raising peoples blood pressure.

Some Wassock said on the Army Forum to an Ex Commando trained Naval Medical Attendant to go away and stick to his own part of the Forums. The Pillocks a right Dick anyway but if that sort of attitude starts to perculate around the forums you can say goodbye to a fair few "Old n Bold" members and the end result will be yet another Forum buggered up by Walters and Wannerbies who should "Wind their necks in" until they join up, hack the training and get that good old Serviceman/womans way of looking at life. Cynically, critically, and honestly.

Must agree with Artist and my honourable colleague NIW there is no need whatsoever for us to include an RAF Police forum in here as we have a site specifically dedicated to that.

www.raf police.co.uk

I can only speak for myself here but the main reason I use the military forums is for the diversity. It allows the likes of me to step outside our little trade box and communicate with non-feds. This can only be healthy as if it promotes an understanding of who we are and what we do then all the better. This site allows the individual to post on more than subject and more to the point to read on them! As long as people don't abuse the priviledge then long may it continue!!

Hear Hear Hostage Negotiator. Is another great site with such a wide range of users it helps us realise that the majority of people are not like the to$$ers we have to deal with at work :)

Apologies if the satire was lost in translation. It was meant to be a bit of a grenadier moment!
I was far from insinuating that a dedicated forum be raised on this site for the RAFP.

Artist’
My post was nothing to do fragmenting the forums.
I have just found some of the recent comments de-constructive to contributors.

Up until about a year ago the amount of posts on the RAF forum was on parr with the current level of posts for Jack. So it has been encouraging to see the amount of interest and dramatic rise in the number posts over the last few months (TJD has a lot to be thanked for!). It would be a shame if youngsters felt afraid to open their mouths because of the fear of getting shouted down i.e. Mr Greengrass! Yes he was a stroker but if that had been in the Royal forum (as has happened in the past) Im sure that El Prez, Stix and your good self would of used gentle and informed persuasion as opposed to full pronged abuse.

Just the tone of some of the recent posts have reminded me why I left the RAF. After working closely with the other services for some time, I found the amount of blue bods giving it the big one and all the “My trade is harder than your trade” got right on my t*ts.
Royal and the Andrew especially had nothing to prove and most of the Army units to be honest. I think it is fair to say that elements of the RAF seemed to have a bit of an inferiority complex at times.

And as for the Maglite up your jacksy type comments – I had forgotten about those.
“Is your hair in love with your collar? “
“No SAC Acting Cpl, Im just back from a 3 week ex doing TALOs. And yes that is Gurkha puke all down my back. And yes I am allowed to have an LSW even though Im not in the Regiment. “What have you been up to, apart from polishing your warrant card?? Clink clink !!!

I could go on but I won’t. Shoot me down, Ive packed my own chute!

I can't comment on the SAC / Acting / Cpl bit as I haven't been one for so long I forget what it was like, personally I have worked with all 3 services and a multitude of trade specialists and can honestly say I have never felt or been made to feel inferior, different maybe but then thats why I was there in the first place! and like you yes I'm allowed to have an LSW as well and I've polished that a few times but never my warrant card! As far as being "de-constructive" as you put it I prefer to think that there are occassions when it is suitable to be blunt, forthwrite whatever you wish to call it. Personally if I misjudge somebody or make a mistake I'll happily put my hand up and apologise or be corrected (I think Rockapemk1 will vouch for me there). I too am glad to see people who wish to join the service posting here I just want them to know that when GoonerGreenpill types post rubbish they will leave themselves open to ridicule and for that I make no apology!

Unfortunately Artist is just like the people we have to deal with at work, typical stereotyping of the police, obviously been a customer in the past then.

Only the once NIWorker. An I deserved to be one as well. Twas fair Malta and me and two Oppos were fair "under the weather". We'em trapped some Wrafs and had gone back to Luqa with them. Hem, Hem.

The Snowdrops were going to contact St Andrews Barracks to let them know where we were but we told them we were not 41 but ships company off Fearless. As it happened they did us a favour as the thought of Yomping back to the Ship didnt appeal one little bit. No charges were pressed and no Ill feeling was felt on either side. Breakie was nice and the chance of getting a Dhoby was much appreciated by all three of us.

The only blot on the ladscape was this RAFP F/Sgt. He knew me from when Pops was based at RAF West Raynham in Norfolk. Was a tad worried that he would let Pops know just what his Wayward son had been up to that night.

And Macster I wasnt having a Pop at you just saying what I think needs pointing out. As in there is a little bit of "Them & Us" creeping into certain parts of the site. Considering it's wannerbies who are doing it I just find it annoying.
