PASSED PRMC HA!

I just passed my PRMC, i know i seem to have disappeared for a while, but i have been just getting on with my preparation and trying not to make anymore stupid comments as i have in the past.
I won't do a diary as it would be almost identical to DAVEB's one. But if there are any questions then i'm more than happy to answer them.
All I'll say is that this site is excellent for preparation as there really is a wealth of knowledge here and some of those who failed did so because their knowledge of what to expect had so many holes in it that the reality of the course hit them like a fist so it's well worth trawling through the diaries and getting as much info as possible, as i'm sure those who've done PRMC and the rest of basic training will attest to.
Right then, if you will all excuse me i need to catch up on some sleep and wait for the pain to go away.

Congratulations CW. Have you been given a start date yet or does that get sorted out by your AFCO?

Could you post your scores and how many passed (roughly) - I don't know why but most of us yet to undertake the course seem to find it somewhat comforting to read.

Also, could you just run over what you found to be the more difficult sections of the course.

Many lads get beasted for conduct/language?

all the best

Rob

Congratulations mate!!!

Hey, you could be in the same troop as me in Foundation! (I got 24th Jan start date)

Who were your Corporals? Did you have one who was a Geordie? If so, he was the one that got that guy to do 70 press ups cos he called a Tea a Brew instead of a Wet!

Again...congrats mate!!

Press ups- 54
Sit ups- 73
Pull ups- 3
Bleep thang- 10.2 (poor I know) :(
3 miler- Pass
Assault course- 3.46 (average i know)

As for strictness, one guy got press ups within 10 mins of getting there as he was leaning on a wall. For the most part the insrtuctors were cool, just do as they say and there is NO reason for a thrashing, but when folk start ignoring instructions then they got upset. Each actual test was hard, but they are ALL do-able, as long as you give kep yer head down and give it 110% then you'll give a good account of yourself. The real pain isn't from any single test but the culmination of the tests being back to back over 2 days. I must stress that the course is hard, but it isn't so biblical as folk say it is ie. THIS IS THE HARDEST THING YOU'LL EVER DO, it's not that bad. Just maintain good humour and down't let the pressure of the moment get on top of you and drag you down. Just know that you've done all these tests at home and ace them, all needs doing is to just do them again in front of the instructors. :D

There is a minimum level of fitness required for training, but the instructors were constantly stressing they were looking for potential and determination, this makes the difference. Some of my scroes were pants as you can see, but i like to think that i showed a lot of grit, cos on the 3 miler that was ALL that got me through, i was absolutely destryed from the first day.
So the point is to keep plugging away, they want the hard bastard who keeps getting up and starting again when the chips are down and it looks like he's gonna fail then he pulls something out of the hat. Just get into bloody minded mode and keep going hell for leather.

the bare minimum is level 10 but if you get a level 10 they will be looking at you very carefully throughout the rest of the course you should really be aiming for above level 12.
good luck to combatwombat and dave b.
