First Airshow

Got my first airshow next saturday and really looking forward to it 
. Anyway, just wondering what the scoop is with it- do you get to walk round at your leisure and go in and around aircraft talking to the pro's?
Also it says gates open at 8am- is it best to try and get there for that time? Ive got work later and will have to leave about 1.30-2 will that mean i miss the airshow- what time do you think it will start at and how long will it go on for?
