left training at week 29

Leaving training at wk29 was the worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life. I joined originally with 843tp where even from the outset I had a lot of problems physically. I got to wk 22 and got stuck in hunter straight after bottom field pass out with a dodgy knee. I spent six months there and then joined 857tp who I completed my tests with in wk26 (as they were in the old syllabus). It was at this point after what should have been such a defining moment in my career when things started going wrong back home (quite seriously) and I lost the motivation to continue. I know it sounds unbelievable and to me, it is now I’ve realized what I threw away. I went on to field firing and final ex and at the end of final ex after struggling with the yomps over dartmoor (75km, 2.5days, 120lb) I was told I’d failed and at the time I didn’t even care that much. Now I’ve came home and everything is sorted out I want to go back, I left july 15th ’04 which means I’m eligible to return 12 months from then.

I don’t want this post to sound melancholic, just want to get across to people that if you’re in training and want to leave don’t! it’s a massive regret of mine but at 22 I reckon I’ve still got a chance to go back and get it cracked.

Thanks for your time, daz :)

I really feel sorry for you, because you got so close to the end :o

When you apply again do you have to start from scratch for the full 22 weeks??

Also should you of passed out on the 5th August?? If so there is a Bootneck here called Dan with a Dragonball Z character as his Avatar. You maybe could get in touch with him as the date seems to fit with your troop.

I left Army training 3 or 4 weeks away from passing out of Phase 2. (can't remember exactly) because of problems at home, and am now trying to get back in. The recruitment process has slowed unbelievably for the Army (don't know about Royal..) so I agree. Don't leave, getting back in is more f****ng about and not worth it.

CS gas is bearable, compared to living in a block with some smelly f***er who doesn't get showered often enough. It's a worse punishment to bear, there's always one in every section. I'm starting to think they're sent in by the training staff as a sort of test.

What this Gas thing then? Do you get CS Gassed or do you have to go in a room with Gas masks on full of not very nice things to breath in?

don't think they have green flashes anymore cos tests are now at the end of training again . still got it at home though, along with my good old cap comforter! - as for CS, week 13 is the worst week in training as far as i'm concerned  in the chamber i got as far as saying "sgt, i am PO...urggghhhhh"!

I have been gassed before, not the greatest of experiences. But the thing is you live through it even though you can't see, you needs to sneeze and feel like you can't breathe!!
