I went down the caeers office the other day for a presentation thing which really gave me a good insight into the army.

However, whilst watching the presentation it mentioned about asthma.

Now i was given an inhaler back in 2001 because of my heyfever, but i've NEVER needed it or used it.

They said you had to be free from using one for 4 years, well i ain't never used it in the 3 years i've had it (in fact i don't think i even have it anymore)

i'm the strongiest i've ever been, sooooo prepard for phase 1 its unreal, and my head is so focused i even dream about the Army

So what do i do? Shall i not mention it at all (even in the medical questionnaire) and i hope they don't notice it or bring it up or should i just tell them and explain.

Do you reckon they'd still let me in?

The medical questionaire is to be filled out by a GP, you don't do it yourself these days so it will come up. Since you were given an inhaler, whether or not you used it, in the last 4 years you may have to wait another year untill your treatment phase has been finished over 4 years.

If you say it hasn't been used, they can't just take your word for it. It's too risky, in a combat situation...you could have an asthma attack, and they may not be able to get you an inhaler. Then the section isn't as effective because they're having to look after you. That's how they'd see it. Try, by all means. But I think they'll say wait until you're clear for another year. A year isn't long to wait for the rest of your life.

i thought if you have hayfever you cant go in the army but i could be wrong

There is no point lying. You may well pass the medical if you don't mention inhalers. The problem is when you join, the army becomes your medical service, they get a copy of EVERY recruits medical history to keep on file. So you'll only get pulled up on it as they reasses you at the start of basic to make sure you havent picked up any injuries since RSC.

You can't get away with it, be honest now...you never know it might be ok...if not, youll simply have a bit more time on your hands to get even stronger.

just a question:when basic starts,does the army write to my doctor,asking for the med forms??or do i have to??

The Army will get all your medical records from your doctor when you are going through the applictation process. You have 'owt to do with this.

I'm currently in the recruitment process and I had to take a form to my Doctor requesting the info.

yeah,i know about that med form...when i applied i had to fill it out myself...then they asked my doc for a report...

Never done that myself. The Army contacted my doctor directly.

It was only a month ago I had to do this. I was in once before and last time I filled it in myself, so it's changed recently. My doctors have lost my medical notes, though...causing f@#&ing delays..
