When did they stop issuing the N.G.S.M. for Cyprus?I was with 40 cdo late '59 early '60 and doing "active service"things.No medal was forthcoming.Was there a qualifying time?I'm sure that some department could tell me but you seem to have the knowledge.

Veloman,The NGSM was still being issued untill 1962,You should have received the medal for active service in Cyprus 1959 the qualification period was 28 days on the Island,served there with 40 Commando did a few tours between bouts in Malta and Tripoli Served 1956/1959 (Platres) My HQ was 'Costas Bar' Brandy Sour anyone?.Aye JR

PS I suggest you contact Medals Dept HMS Centurian Gosport,no doubt someone will put you in the picture correct Address,Sticky where are you?.

Many thanks for info' reply on my last.I'll give Centurion a call and see what comes up and let you know the result.
PS.I was 7 section,B Troop 59/61.Malta,Libya,brandy sour,hopleaf,all ring very loud bells.I stayed in for 26 years ,but that first draft was the best.

Jim is correct,Veloman,you are entitled to NGSM if you served more than 28 days in Cyprus during the fun times !!!!.
Jim, the brandy sour was the down fall of some fine young men,lead me to 'em.

The Fire was caused by the Packies in the shop half way up the stairs,

Further to the last, the transport lads were the closest.
plus the fact they had the means.
