Hi guys less than a fortnite now before I go to HMS Raleigh and I need a few questions answered. Well I went shopping for my kit list and I bumped into my friend who is in the army mother. She told me that I should take a sporting jock strap which it doesnt say on my list. Also take interview clothing. e.g shirt tie trousers. My list also says take underwear but boxers are not allowed for PE. Does this mean that I can wear boxers when not doing PE. She told me too that underwear must be tightfitting but it can be any colour. Also my list doesnt say take sox but she told me to take seven thick dark pairs. What type of tracksuit do I take. Does this just include trousers shorts and T-shirt. The list also says take running trainers. Ive got adidas climacool trainers which are excellent for running but no good for getting wet or muddy. Should I just buy some basic trainers. Should my shoe cleaning kit, brushes etc be of good expensive quality. What type of civvy clothes do I take for he one or two evenings out. The list also says take about £30. Is this enough as my friend in the army had to buy an ironing board and loads of stuff while he was there. It would be great if anyone could help me out with this list and also anyone who has been through hms raleigh could give me extra tips on equipment to take with me. Perhaps suntan cream or whatever. After all seeing as its june to I take any different equipment and also are we allowed to use deodrant or anti perspirent. Whats best. Can we use mobile phones or are there pay phones there. Also do lloyds cash machines take barclaycard visa electron. Also should I sell my car before I go. I havent got a clue with anything but please reply. Thanks guys.

Well... LOAD's of Question's here.. now where do i start.. oh yes.. 11 days!
She told me that I should take a sporting jock strap which it doesn’t say on my list. Also take interview clothing. e.g shirt tie trousers
Take them if need be, there not going to get peeved at you…
Also my list doesn’t say take socks but she told me to take seven thick dark pairs
Same again… They DO issue socks so it shouldn’t be a problem
What type of tracksuit do I take?
Me and my mother were queering this, I just took a tracksuit top, and some bottom’s I think they MIGHT be for just sitting around in when not doing anything.
I’ve got adidas climacool trainers which are excellent for running but no good for getting wet or muddy. Should I just buy some basic trainers?
Yes, just take some Cheep comfortable running shoes.
Should my shoe cleaning kit, brushes etc be of good expensive quality.
Don’t Bother, I got a cheap set of brushes from Morrison’s and they work fine.
What type of civvy clothes do I take for he one or two evenings out.
Smart, Casual, Like a nice pair of Jeans and a shirt or t-shirt.
The list also says take about £30.
Take the £30, I think they also issue you with £25 after the first day. That’s what I’ve been told anyway.
are we allowed to use deodrant or anti perspirent. Whats best.
I would go with Anti-Perspirent, Stop’s the sweating, and Deodorant is only to smell nice for the ladies (or men if you swing that way  )
Can we use mobile phones or are there pay phones there.
Yes, But.. Keep them Locked up.. And use them only in spare time, Dont get upset if Divisional training officer get's :fist: at you for using it on Parade  And Most Probably… yes there will be payphones.
Also do lloyds cash machines take barclaycard visa electron.
Yes they do... 100% sure; I used mine in one the other day
Also should I sell my car before I go.
Well… I think they DON’T allow them at HMS Raleigh, as there is not enough space, but I don’t know about other training establishments. Personally, I would sell it.

Excellent thats helped a lot. Ive bought two small tins of shoe polish brushes etc. Ive also bought some small/medium padlocks. You know the bronze pin and tumbler ones that cost about two quid. Are these suitable. Ive only got a few things more to pick and then im sorted. When do you go Bovie.

Funny. I was told to be there by 14:00 otherwise I would miss the coach.

Sailorboy, were you told to be down at Plymouth by a certain time?

No I wasnt told a time bt my train is supposed to arrive into Plymouth at 13:49. The chances are though that they will be out looking for straddlers anyway as many times ive seen and heard stories of at motorway services and train stations of people in uniform running round asking everybody wether they have seen someone who looks like a trooper, sailor, new recruit or anyone sitting on a suitcase twiddling their thumbs or anything. So if you do miss the bus they will come back and get you and if they dont ring the phone number theyve given you. Have you guys all got to meet by the photo booth.

Yeah I think I was told to meet at the photo booth.

BTW all of the phone numbers on the kitlist for Raleigh seem to be duds. So get in touch with your AFCO if for any reason you need to talk to Raleigh.

Well then you go to the photo booth :P :P

If that has by some freak of nature vanished to, then just wait at reception. If you still cant find anyody then they can always get on the PA and announce "there is a lanky naval cadet with a bad case of body odour waiting at reception, could a royal navy officer please come and remove him ASAP before we call the police thankyou"
