Right folks,

does anyone have the official list of what should be packed where in webbling and bergen?

I've tried the infantry TAM, the electronic battlebox, and on the web but can't find anything.

Electronic battle box ??

Its a bunch of CDs that the army puts out every year containing PDF versions of the most up to date PAMs and TAMs. There are 7 cds worth. I think some are Special to Arm, cos I have "Disk 4 of 7 - Artillery" sitting beside me here.

Says on the back :

"The Electronic Battle Box is produced annually by the Directorate General of Development and Doctrine. It now contails electronic versions of nearly all the published output of the Army General Staff."

How do you get hold of them????

they have them lying around our Unit Library, and fe people actually use them.

dont you want a couple of Rats in your webbing? as well as the oh so important chocolate and oatmeal blocks. perhaps a brew too?

im being serious surely youd want a couple of boil in the bags in your webbing jammed inside your mess tin?

Drop the trainers from the bergan, the KFS need only be a spoon, no real need for a knife and fork.

Also, drop the ear defenders and the digging tool can go into the daysack.
At the end of the day, where you pack things is up to you. But the webbing and daysack are what you take when you go out on a patrol, and the bergen is what you live out of, so just use some common sense.
When going on a patrol i put in my daysack, some spare food, basha, warm kit, spare socks, powder, shovel thing, water proof jacket, a first aid kit, and a job lot of spare ammo (at the end of the day, it's no good 6 miles away in you bergen at the harbour area is it?)
The webbing has what you need for about 24 hours on it's own. So that's a couple of water bottles, food, cooker, brew kit, and again, try to get some spare ammo in there on top of the bombed up mags etc. Oh yeah, cleaning kit too.
Bergen, has everything else.
Soldiers tend to carry things pretty differently to what the books say they should because at the end of the day, it's your kit, you pack it how you like.
P.S. why do you want to know all this.

FINAL POST, I SWEAR!
Combi tool, goes into the jacket pocket, not into the webbing. (you'll need it for a gas stoppage, rare as they are)

Where does the firefly go then, I've seen it in webbing b4 but it isn't even on the list. Also, is there a diff list for inf officers against inf squaddies? Anything they need to take that their blokes don't need?
