Anyone ever owned a pair of altberg's? ,I was going to splash out on some boots (my aims terrible after a couple of sherries), and thought rather than going the lowa/danner route, i'd buy British (hurrah).
After a bit of searching on the web I found ,
www.altberg.co.uk , they sound like a proper old fashioned bootmaker, so I would expect a quality job. Personally quite fancy the patrol all weather wellies.
So before I part with three weeks pension, thought I best check that their not a load of cack.

i have a pair of alterbergs, the defender model.
They are excellent boots as good or better than the danners, materhorns, lowa's etc etc that i have owned in the past.
you wont go wrong with them, but there can be a bit of a wait while they make yours if you dont have a standard size foot (popular size) that they have in stock

I use Lowas in work. I can't fault them. Best pair of boots I've ever owned.

Hmmmmmm, ok then
Thats probably fluid/air leaking into the soles and being compressed....hey presto a fart!
I had similar problems with a pair of KSBs, but then I followed through and realised it was too much fibre!

I have owned a pair of Altberg Defenders since 1994. They are fantastic, really comfortable. I was isssued a pair of Danners at the same time and took both pairs to Bosnia in the winter of 95/96. The only pair that were any use were the altbergs. I ran our PRI shop for 12 months when based in Catterick Garrison and sold various types/models of Altbergs to the lads in my unit. Visited the Altberg factory at Richmond, North Yorks several times, it's a brilliant place. It's a traditional boot making factory, very olde worlde, but the boots are fantastic. they can fit new soles, repair etc. They also make hiking/gamekeeper boots in brown and also do a range of motorcycle boots. Check the website:

DelD,
I usually wear my Boots Combat High for work. In the winter I use my Pro Boots. I might wear my Altbergs for work next summer if it doesn't rain too much, mine have cordura uppers. Really comfortable they are, you should try some.

Ladies never fart............................................they leave the room.
honestly i have been given another pair from Lowa and the same thing has happened to the left shoe, apparently it is the inner core seperating from the main lining. Crap excuse but they wont replace the second pair as they say it must be the way that i walk.(don't get cocky)But im going to try the german shops out here and see if they will replace them.
