not your normal question about sit-ups
i know they are done with arms accross your chest, but when you do them on the BFT does a partner hold your feet down

I belive yes your feet are held.
I also think that hands are beside head - at the bottom of a rep, head and elbows must touch the floor, then on the upwards phase, elbows must touch your knees.
Don't take my word for it though!

In RM PRMC and POC as far as I know your hands have to be linked behind your head, and then your eelbows amd back have to touch the ground.
I dont imagine it will be any different.

Negative, I doubt you will link your hands behind the back of your head as it damages your neck and warns you not to do so in the PRMC fitness guide if I'm not mistaken.

Does anyone know why it is that the feet are held down for sit ups? It makes them considerably easier, and takes strain off the abdominals (which is what sit ups are supposed to exercise) and puts it on the back and legs. I don't know if anyone else has read 'fighting fit' but in that book it definitely says that sit ups where your feet are free are harder, while also being a better exercise and less damaging to the back.

That is correct 'Jagd'
When your feet are hooked, it works your lower back and you adductors rather than your abs.
If your trying to improbe your abs, you should be doing various different crunhes. Once you do this, you will find it far easier when you hook your legs.
