Dutch Red Berets

Got a pm that some of you would like some more info about the Dutch red berets. This is the topic where you can ask anything you'd like about them.

In The Netherlands the Red Berets ain't all parachute-qualified like in the UK. The beginning of the 11 Air Manoeuvre Brigade is in 1993 when there was a need of fast-insertable troops. It is possible to insert AMB within 15 days anywhere in the world.
There are 3 Infantry-battalions and some supporting compagnies. The brigade is totally self-supporting so can operate totally by itself.

Yeah I wanted to join the dutch army, too bad that its so full now they pick 10 people out of every 1000 that apply. Anyway, the Brits are the best I thought none of the red beret's were parachute trained, I was told it was an optional course. Surely the lmb would never be parachute inserted? They leave that to the KCT right

Don't like you saying the Brits are the best

In the past only the recon units of AMB were parachute trained (static-line). Nowadays there are many guys from several AMB-units that are parachute qualified. There is even a Para-compagnie where all the guys are going to be parachute-qualified (static-line also).
Only the KCT is free fall-qualified.
In theory, also AMB can be inserted by parachute.
