snellinguk,
It sounds like an almost similar situation to mine last year, I failed a PRMC for the regulars in early April becuase i just wasn't fit enough. I got offerd another chance in two months but i decided I wanted to go to Uni and join the RMR to get the best of both worlds, then maybe go regular after that. I trained all through the summer for an RMR PRMC in Sept and passed, it was pretty much just as hard as the regular PRMC but many of the tests are set out differently. I joined RMR London (Portsmouth det) They didn't care what you'd done in the past they made everyone do the Selection weekend. Its slitly different for each Unit, but heres how mine was done -
Friday - Arive about 2100 - 2200 - Do loads of paper work till gone midnight, get some sleep.
Saterday - Up at 5, tidy up, dohbi, Breakfast, etc.
The morning was taken up with a round robin of -
- USMC tests
- Interview
- Writen Tests
The USMC tests were followed directly by some shuttle runs, this was wierd in that many people felt sick when we came to do the Pull-ups, i think it was all done more intencly than PRMC regular. The sprints finish you off nicly, but its all a personal effort thing at this stage, nobodys pushing you.
After Lunch its the Bleep test and some other stuff but i've completely forgoten what it is...
Thats about it for the Phys on Saterday, I for one thought the day was pretty easy and i was confident about Sunday.
Sunday came, up at 5 again, by 6 we were in the park in the early morning mist and due warming up, Then it was the BFT - 1.5 miles in 15 mins as a group (Very easy for most) Then its a best effort sprint for the second 1.5, there was a big mixture of scores on this, I got 8.45.
So far pretty easy again... Then next thing we knew we were running over to a nearby footy pitch, and finaly a beasting simular to the bottom field, at this point i was begining to change my mind about my Potential, but i Pulled myself through and it was over farly quicky, or so i thought.
We got taken on another run round the park for about a mile or so, then we stoped by a little hill and got told to pair up, for the next 30 mins or so we did races in pairs with all the exercises and sprints etc. This finaly ended.
Was it over yet?
No
"Line up on the path and pair up with someone your own hight and weight"
Firemans carries, this f**ked many people up and one or two were sick on there partners

After this we did Leppord crawls for a while, this was personaly one of the hardest bits. They kept throwing us more and more then one more final effort Firemans carry and it was over. A jog back to the Unit and a warm down and that was it.
Next was the swim test, we did some warm up exercises, like swiming races, these were quite knackering. The actual test was easy, and exactly the same as the regular PRMC test.
It sounds fairly easy but it is supprisingly different from Regular PRMC and challanging in its own way. The whole atmosphere is a lot more testing, its hard to explaine. I was a lot more intimidated by some of the other blokes there as well.
Jesus i didn't mean to write an essay!
There you go anyway, Good luck. The Selection weekend is only the begining, if you think training for that is difficult, wait till you start Recruit training!
Aye,
