Can anyone shed some light on the format for the PJFT?? do you all run at one speed or do you go at your own pace???

There is a minimum speed of about 9mph but if they only tick a box to say you have completed the 1.5 miles in 10.45 i dont think it matters if you do it in 9mins or 10.44 etc.

On my results form there's space for them to put the actual time, I tend to run a steady mile in about seven minutes and then absolutely hammer the half mile to get in at about 9:45 so i'd rather be able to set my own pace.

by always go commando
you set your own pace all the way through (probably to make sure your not thick) its probably best to get a really good time and push ourself as it all gets recorded.

THey ask you fore your PJFT test down at CTC on ur PRMC (so many Abvs.

) so they can get a better idea of who will fail....and who wont!
Also i think they record it so that it gives them more incite into what times you should be getting..ie pushig your self to the max over the events at CTC.
Cheers, dave

is it not best to get a lame time like 10.30 then theyll think youve got no chance, then you really pull it out the bag when your there and the PT's may think wow this lad has really worked hard. im sure this is a stupid idea

but i havent said something stupid for about ten mins so i thought id chirp up.

I treated mine like i will my prmc ,give it s*it. This after all is just as important as your prmc if you dont pass it you aren't getting in.
Be warned, the running machines that i did mine on only went up to 16kph which is rather slow. At my gym they are faster and consequently i normally get 9mins. But due to the machines being slower i got 9 min 25.

I was told to give it best effort as the PTIs (Royal Irish Reg lads who conducted my test) said that the time was noted and how much guts and effort were put in. ie BEST EFFORT TILL YOU DROP, PUKE OR BOTH! To llok good under 09:30 is best.

This is all bollocks about them noting your score and comparing it to others at the PRMC, its selection test to filter out people who simply cannot run that fast. The pass time is 10:45, you pass or you fail, theres no more to it.
