Boot Questions

Hi, I've got a couple of questions about boots (I've used the search feature but couldn't find any answers).

Firstly, when they gave me my boots at the end of PRMC, they showed us how to lace them. I'm 90% sure I've laced them right, but there seems to be a big gap in the lacing halfway down, is this normal?

Also, when I bend the front of the boot upwards, one side of the middle of the boot bends the wrong way (if you get what I mean..it bends inwards), whereas with my other boot, they both bend outwards. Very hard to explain :)

One last thing, when I'm walking in them, I can feel my heel rubbing slightly...does this mean my boots are too big or is there somthing I can do about it? In PRMC, during the assualt course, my heal was rubbing badly against the back of my boots, it burnt the skin off and taking my socks off was very unplesant ;)

Cheers, Ash.

Hi,

From what my friends have told me in basic, there not fussy about how you lace your boots, just as long as it looks smart and they stay on your feet properly. As at the end of the day your the one whos got to wear them  . (I think lacing assault boots 100% correctly is more of a pongo thing.)

Sorry can't be of more help.

With the heel rubbing, I found I managed just using two pairs of socks, though Sticky's idea is probably far more reliable :).

One question though...do I take the soles out of the boots before i fill them with boiling water?

You might aswell leave them in, then they will mould to your feet aswell. But remember to unfill the boot with boilong water before you put your feet in them.

Soak your feet in surgical spirit, it'll harden you feet up no end. It can really sting if you already have cuts/blisters so make sure your prepared for pain.

Cheers. One more thing though....won't walking in damp boots give me athletes foot or something?
