Wanting to join the paras when Im old enough so I thought it i'd get fit now but I'm needing some advice.
Wondering what the best way to improve my aerobic endurance rather than just running straight for a certain period of time?( which Im doing now for 45 minutes 4 times a week. Managing about 8.4km each session but its on a treadmill so not as accurate).
Also any advice on improving my tolerance to lactic acid?
Cheers

tolerance come from endurance...keep going and you will live with it and eventually wont bother you...
try the rowing machines, steppers, bike rides etc aswel as just running as all help CV, aerobic and fitness in more "fun" ways
hope that helps young and unfortunate para
cheers,

running on the tread mill is good but road work is essential. try to add some farltek and hill run.

FARTLEK is a swedish word meaning "speed play" but fartlek running is a training technique that sits between interval training and normal running as a means of building up leg strength.
taken from this book which is not a bad book to get for general fitness work.

I was told to start running unhill backwards, that can really build up your endurance.

When you start talking about latic acid you have lost me, but just do what you can to get your self as fit as possible, when you have got running well in hand then start doing it with a rucksack with a bit of wet sand in it to build your strength up, and if you have a local gymn try working out there.
What you do now will save you a lot problems later on.
