Yeah I know what you mean! I am aiming to do the POC as well, but there are a few others..

I find that the maximums for Gym test 1 are all for Marines.. I think you get maximum for 18 pull-ups on a POC, but what are the other maximums?

If it has already been answered let me know and I shall search it out!

Im going for the POC EVENTUALLY!! It's not hard to get 5 a-c's at GCSE, and I dont know about A Levels yet but im sure I'll get at least 2 A-E's.

Out of interest, has anyone asked an AFCO about A level grades recently, as I was always led to believe two A levels at grade C were required, and the official note is a bit vague, ref: http://www.royal-marines.mod.uk/static/pages/2695.html .

Hope you don't mind us proletarian scum joining in :) (and that was a joke before someone bites someone elses head off!).

Not many I don’t think, I also want to be an officer but with the Para’s so I hope you don’t mind if I came and play

Come on you lot, you wanna be officers? Do the research!
Maximums are:
85 sit ups
60 press ups
16 chins
15.5 on bleep test

As for qualifications:
2 A levels or eq.
3 GCSE's or eq.

BUT to be honest i think it is better to have a degree behind you when entering otherwise you'll be at a bit of a disadvantage

Im in the minority with you maverick, hopefully got the POC at the end of the year but a the moment thinking I may have to push it back, an injury and end of year exams kind of messed up my training.
Out of interest how are people doing in reaching those maximums?

i can reach the maximums on the press up sit ups and chin ups quite easily. i'm not sure about the bleep test, cos i've never done one but i'm pretty sure i could do quite well because i'm a natural sprinter. i think i'm going to have to put loads of work in on the distance running though. it hurts like hell. i usually feel like my shins are imploding but thats gradually getting better after years of running in "fashion trainers" and not running shoes.
p.s does anyone know why the number of pull-ups for the prmc is so low. personally i can't understand people not being able to do at least 4. everytime i go through a door way i feel the need to do one. i think i have been corrupted by the rocky films.

I'm also going for POC but not until near the end of the year since I'm going for entry in 2004. Been training for about 8 months already and have gone from almost dying after 2 miles to being able to comfortably run regular 7.5 mile routes, so, for anyone struggling with the running, stick with it and you'll be fine.

On the fitness assessment bear in mind that it is all done to timed beeps so make sure you do your press ups, chins etc to a controlled timing, beasting them out at a rapid pace will leave you with a big shock in store at the POC

Hello All,

I'm going for POC around late 2004. Long way ahead I know but I start training this summer. Should be fit enough by the time I get there..... hopefully :-? I'm with Maverick on the degree side of things. A degree is prefered everytime over A-levels. It gives you that extra edge that may just push you over the top and into the best job on the planet. Good luck lads!

Yeah but it's 3 years of my life and I dont want to do it. There are people who become officers without a degree and I intend to be one of them!
