No news on troop yet

One word of advice the list of things you have to buy before you go to begin training is quite long so make sure you have some cash saved up.

Do you take your own ironing board or do they provide them? Anything unusual on the list?

Thanks Beasta

No they supply ironing boards.

Nothing unusual just pricy little things like 6 coat hangers prefrebly wooden £7 a pack of 5 at argos! I was told they reccomend bringing a Mini Maglite down on the PRMC,

Stuff like that adds up!

I'll try and type up the full list later tonight

Joe & Ross,
Flip flops, essential for getting to and from showers.
Extra nicks and towels, you can never have too many.
Mobile phone, to whimper to Mum on.
Lots of soap and a good nail brush.
TCP and a pair of tweezers, for removing woodbury gorse tips from your knees, thighs and arse.
Sewing kit, known as a housewife. Black, beige and green thread plus various needles. The needles also double up as gorse removers.
Good quality boot brushes, and kiwi polish.

A Ginockerous can of sense of humour repair kit. :P

Lympstone supply the mud, cold and rain to develope your scrawny frame into the finished article, good luck on Monday Joe, never ever stop smiling, they'll think you've cracked  .
Ross, start saving.

Just to add to Robs list above:
Get youreslf a small electric razor, a reliable one, There is nothing worse than on a cold frosty morning trying to shave, in icy cold water! If you don't shave yet, I can bet you will be in six weeks, mark my word!
Remember the old Bootneck saying "Any Bloody fool can be uncomfortable in the Field" and Robs advice to keep smiling does realy crack them. Good Luck

Hey Ross, glad to hear you passed, i've just completed week 4 and have just woken up after a few hours shut-eye. There's not much you can take that will really make a difference, as they'll give you a run ashore at the end of week 1 to get some kit. A must though is a good iron, steam steam and steam. Get a few good locks, you need three and put different colour gaff tape on each one and on their corresponding keys, tie one set of keys onto string or para-cord and make it into a necklace, bring the spare keys too. I've gone through a load of bungee cords already, you use them for everything from putting up your bivvys to making you webbing nice a comfy, if you don't have to travel far and you don't mind the extra bulk get a few. Don't bring any gucci equipment either, get a good watch and maglite or variant, don't knives yet as they might be confiscated, each troop training team have different views, some will let you use your own modified equipment after awhile, some will want you to stick with the issue. I can't really tell you much more except that the first couples of weeks are crap, it's all admin, admin, admin, after that though it starts to get good when you move into your 6 man accomodation, there's no one shouting at you to get up, you do what you have to do (admin wise) whenever you want, but you HAVE to do it. We don't have to be up until 0755, but nearly everyone gets up between 5-0530 on an ordinary day and get heads down between 2100-0100 depending. Also don't neglect your training between your prmc and joining, very important. Good Luck.
