Hey. i start my TG on the 26th October and was just wondering does anyone know what the different awards are that are given to the recruits at the end of the training? All I know is there is one for best overall recruit but i don't know any of the others. Anyone got any idea?

In my day, there were no awards at all.
You were there to train for a job. The only "award" (considered punishment by those of us who wanted to do soldiering) was the QCS selection team coming up during your last week to pick out the best marchers and "stand-stillers". Hardly what most of us wanted. However, there were always a few poor sods that the QCS WO picked!

I heard the best recruit gets to go up in a fast jet.

'There to train for the job'...
Thats what the training programme is designed to do still, just because awards are given out doesn't take that away. Nothing wrong with a bit of incentive for the recruits to try that little bit harder. Before i even posted the comment I knew you would come out with something like that lol.
Well I know they've been giving out awards for a good while as the caretaker in my old school joined the Reg 5 years ago and he got most improved recruit and showed me the certificate. It's just an extra part of the graduation ceremony where the recruits can accept various awards, i just don't know what they are.

I wasn't criticising mate, just pointing out that awards just didn't exist back then. sorry! The only real incentive I felt was that I wanted to succeed at this or it was back to a shit life in Thatcher's London in a bedsit and with a crappy job.
