If you can lift (118kg - check it though) on the Static Lift - one of the tests at ADSC they may let you off with a 9:40 run time.

you dont want to be getting 9:40 mate. you want to be aiming for under 9 minutes.
always strive to achieve the best you can, dont settle for the bare minimum.

I was expecting you to put something really corny at the end of that, sounds like an army advert.

Do you think the best way of getting my time down is to just keep on going at it till i have cracked it.

Basically yeh, remember your rest days though.
I'd try to get some sort of variation too, instead of 1.5 miles per day with 2 rest days, i'd try to mix it up with 1.5 miles one day then the next day with a run for 20minutes for example. If you get me, someone else may have a different opinion and more experience.

Well I would suggest joining your local gym and do circut training mate (some gyms make you a personal training program to help with your goals, also just doing 1.5 miles every time is not as affective as mixing the distance and speed etc. I have been training for over a year now and I started being able to run about 800m max to 1.5 miles in 13 minutes lol. Then as I just kept doing the 1.5 milers for a long time I did'nt notice hardly any improvement. Then a month (ish) ago I started running 1.5 miles once or twice a week but then on the other run I did say a 3 miler or 4 miler at a decent pace so getting the best of both worlds, distance and speed. I am now running the 1.5 miler in very low 11 minutes witch is still no were near enough but I should be at under 9 minutes hopefully within the next 6/8 months all going well.
