This is going out to all the mods, Can you put me in the right direction of where i can get me boots painted. No real hurry for it to be done. Just been up Spean Bridge last weekend and got them trashed afterwards in the bar . Up at Fasers atm. Cheers

unit armourers are usually the blokes and charge about a tenner a pair, alternatively you can crack it yourself, the paints called japlac and is availble from focus diy store i believe, just masker the stitching and soles well and pour on with a spoon, allow to dry for a few days and hey presto!! getting it in to the armourers is a lot easier thou

Awlrite davo, yeah its usually the armourers but the lad that does it is on his juniors and aint coming back to fasers, might see about trying it myself. If it does go pete tong ill speak nicely to the civvi in stores
So is that stuff all you need? No sanding them down or base coat?

One other thing, just incase any nods are reading this, dont be stupid enough to try anything like this. You'll be in the hurt locker, in a world of extra admin and pain

alright mate, make sure theres no polish left on them, sandpaper cant halm, i sanded mine down, you need it down to the leather, if theres any polish left it may bubble or set uneven. you need to maskers till your eyes bleed, all of the soles, the wood around the cap and a bit further back, on the stiching that goes over the top, anywhere you think the paint might run, you put it on quite thick so will run more places that you think.

a base coat shouldnt be needed, i never but if it bubbles etc an extra coat cant harm!

just give it plenty of time to dry as it takes a fair old while

thought this stuff was pretty bootneck proof, cant get hold of the nose cone paint. What else do you recommend?

Try spit and polish,safer and less likely to cause pain.

Just had a seek for hubby's boot paint, it's German but he bought it in the UK. He's taken it with him though - bar steward

Ho-hum, civvy used to do it at Logs, £17 a pair, believe they went to CTC to get done. Give them a ring and get them in the post...they use some hoofing gel stuff so scratches just rub out. Mine have survived two years on the first coat so far.

yeah your right, its the tailor, they dont send them to ctc though, somewhere in Gus, they use the nose paint off the Tornado or something!

will be getting mine done when we move out of this travelodge and find my repack boxes full of kit which is all over the shop in shake-ons and cupboards. Few lads have had them done and they are immense!

Two years - We obviously lacked the transport - unless we were flown over and had to walk back

Ours were walked out quicker'n vindaloo

Sea Service boots lasted a little longer - used them mainly for dances etc

Five quid a WEEK ( not the hour as complained of now ) a shilling a pint

I dont think you can get that paint anymore.
