Mark Knopfler is release a new version of Brother in Arms next week. It's been specifically issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War.

Mark Knopfler, his management team and Universal Music/Mercury Records have all forgone any claim on royalties. That means that around 70% of all sales will go directly into SAMA. The recoard will be mainly available on download sites because thats the way it works these days although a limited number of CD's are being made too.

More importantly the funds are not just going into general funds but into a ringfenced pot which will pay for guys getting back 'Down South' to deal with the problems an awful lot of the lads have experienced. As you'll know; the suicides now outnumber the battle casualties but of those who have been back to the Islands there are no known suicides.

The cover has been designed by Dean Regan, himself a veteran who served attached to Cdo Logs in 82. www.deanreganart.com.

Incidentally, the red sky is about blood spilled rather than a maroon beret. I suppose a green sky, whilst a preferable colour in most respects would looks a bit odd.

Funny enough, speaking of the abandoned soldier; I rang Mr Malone last night and invited him to the press conference to launch the record which is being held at the Imperial War Museum. Yorkie more than most understands what this is about having experienced the trip down south in 2002.

Any other veterans in and around london on Tuesday and can help out with the press please let me know.

Hopefully, the deal is that the press have asked to interview one or two people who have benefited by returning to the Islands. Yorkie was the first person that I thought of, I was there with him of top of the mountain when he got his release.

As for SB; can't say I have, know of him but never met him. He'd be welcome to come along though.

There's a piece in the Sun today and a double pager in the Express tomorrow. I'm starting to get very excited. I'll have to be careful I don't swamp my chair!

It's all been a bit hectic Harry, press conference went very very well, and the Sun (I know, I know! but you've got to dance with the devil sometimes) have been all out to promote it. It really is flying off the shelves on the download sites. No figures yet but the 'popularity' level is top of the scale. If it can make top ten this week then we are very hopeful for reaching somewhere in the very high echelons next week.

Back to the conference; The boss (Julian Thompson) turned out and did a superb job with the media as indeed did Simon Weston who attended along with 3 other Welsh Guardsmen. A fair number of other guys were there; Jim Bush - 2 Para and an instructor on Bad Lads Army. John Phillips who lost an arm attempting to difuse the bombs on Antelope. Denzil from SAMA of course, Paul Cunliffe who commanded Diana's burial party.

There have been loads of press coverage predominantly from the Sun who are running a campaign but because of that the other nationals have backed off. Tough decision but if you want mass publicity you don't turn the Sun down. We did the rounds of radio interviews after the conference which we think went well.

Either way, it is selling very well from the major download sites: www.virgindigital.co.uk and www.hmvdigital.co.uk along with the iTunes and Napster portals.

Lots of guys helping out with interviews for the papers, you might have seen Pete Robinson yesterday in the sun and Yorkie Malone is in on I think Friday. Essentially there's a story about a veterans then the last paragraph highlights the record.
