I don't know the specific requirements, but I would suggest you go to the optician anyway!

Nathan, best thing to do is go through the selection process, then within the medical it will assess your eye sight specifically for that trade. But it should'nt to much of a bother. Something a quick mind and quick wit can cover up.

I think you will find as they have the choice of the best of the best for the few jobs in aircrew, your chance of getting on aircrew with less than perfect vision is very slim.

I hope you're not suggesting that if you can't see a target on your radar screen, or coming towards you, you could 'cover it up'...

Just cover up, or simply yawn and blag your way through it.

Obviously all within reason, hopefully :P. If its too bad of a eye sight. Get laser eye surgery?

Just a heads up, from serving aircrew - it is not possible to blag your way through a medical, and if you try you will make yourself look like a complete nobber.

Not the kind of people I want to be flying with...

ISTR that your eyesight for commencement of Flying training has to be 20/20, once you have started flying then you can be issued with glasses. Laser surgery is still a no no for mil aircrew at the moment. Ask your careers office...

Only for Pilot. For WSOp and WSO you can be slightly short sighted.
