Im planning on going to welbeck military college and I want to apply through the army but when will I have to choose what regiment I want to go into.

Also I wanted to join the royal engineers but i heard they do very little travelling and dont do many operations compared to combat regiments, I'd like to know if this is true?

Everyone in todays Army get to go on trips over the water mate regardless of the Regt/Corps.

The Army are strapped so not only will you go overseas but after your leave on your return you will probably be packing to go to another tour.

Good luck in whatever you decide mate.

The Engineers go every where, there was even an airborne unit when I was in the forces

Yep that's right, engineers go everywhere. Their motto is after all 'Ubique' - meaning 'everywhere'. Same as Artillery.

I'm biased, but 9 Squadron RE were a great bunch of lads. 8)

If you are going to go to Welbeck, it will be assumed that you will then go onto RCMS at Shrivenham and be commissioned into one of the technical corps like R Sigs, REME, or RE

I've just been at the Welbeck college website, and i've got to say it looks like a fantastic facility for potential young officers to develop their abilities and technical skills and to give them a good grounding in the ways of the military.

I'm at Welbeck, so if you want to know any info, post it here and I'll try my best...
You only put forward which service you want to join when going for Welbeck, but you're expected to have a preference. However, you make your commitment to your Corps in your second yeay, as they sponser you through uni. Although I think that at Sandhurst it may be possible to change but only in special circumstances.

Yep, but they can't even get an airborne troop together at the minute.
