Meeting Conduct

Hello everyone, I'm afraid I need your advice again! Any advice is as always greatly appreciated.
I'm in the RNR, but I figured I'd get a larger audience on here, and besides this forum will have more experience.
OK, first of all, this is my situation:
I asked for a meeting this Tuesday with my CO, to explain that my drop in training attendance lately is due to me having my finals at uni. I finish uni for good and forever in 2 months. I have also failed to hand in a report on time. It wasn't an important one, but it wasn't the best mistake to make. I haven't been bollocked or picked up on it, but I fully accept that I made a stupid and avoidable mistake. I want to make up for it.
What I also need to say is that I know my performance is down quite severely, but I have a good reason. I also want to promise him that I of course take responsibility for this, and that the second my degree is finished my CO will see a massive improvement, in all aspects of my presence at President.
So: I need to present myself at this meeting as sharp as a razor, to show him that I'm serious about this and really do mean business.
I'm not too sure about how to conduct myself though. Do I salute at an indoor informal meeting? These are the nuances that I plain out haven't the experience to know yet. Any advice you might have for this meeting on how I should go about doing it would be great.
I was hoping you kind ladies and gents would point me in the right direction?
This man will be giving me a reference when I apply for the forces full time in about 7 months, so I really need to give a good impression.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Cheers
Matt
