Waiting lists

Is there currently a waiting list to join the RN? Is there anything that can "bump" you up the waiting list such as high aptitude, very good fitness or choice of job ( I hear that Submariners are always in need)?
Finally if I were to apply today hypothetically when would I be starting at Raleigh?

DEpends on the trade you are going for. My son applied last year and has a 12 month wait. He joins September this year, he applied April last year. As for bump... No. They will only take you 6-12 weeks before your trade course starts for course loading. If there was a bump, I'd have done it for him!

What trade you thinking of going into?
Warfare is always taking people on and then you can go side-ways entry but you need a 3:3 in namit for the side-ways. Also depends on whether or not they will release you from your trade. They will have a book up in the UPO that will tell you which trades are releasing each month etc. Can't rem. the name of the book though, sorry!

How long before you get in is it that you take your fitness test? I'm about 1 minute slow at the moment, should I go for my interview etc now to get the ball rolling?
I'm thinking of CT or Submariner. Hell I'd be happy to swab decks just to get my chance to do my bit.

Ok, when I joined up it was just the first interview, test, interview, medical, final interview. If I can rem. right lol
Not to sure of the way they are doing it now. But I am sure that they book you in for the medical etc. Give them a call to find out, they won't bite hun

Ok went along to the careers office today and had a very informative talk. I found out that my first two choices (Communications Technician + Submariner) I am uneligible to join due to my dual nationality! However I have read through all the literature I have been given and I'm pretty certain my two choices for my Application form are going to be Air Engineering Technician and Engineering Technician (WE).
I'm going to fill my Application in tomorrow and post it straight off.
One more question for the time being; can a bad credit record prohibit entry? I have never been bankrupt but my record is pretty dismal.

WE may not be an option if you have dual nationality, I'm sure they put a damper on that a few years ago but don't take that as for def.

Wonder why they wouldn`t let a German on one of HM`s boats?
With their track record he`d be a natural
"Torpedo, Los "
