Take some training gear with you, not much as you should be issued with gear. As I hear its all gucci now, so doubt your get the nice navy blue shorts!

Civvy gear, I dunno how it goes now but when we were eventually allowed up the bar at night we had to wear uniform. Only really need civvy gear for the last few days.

Mind you it may of changed by now. Most things are issued, I hear you get duvets now instead of flea invested blankets!

Also, take a supply of wash gear and also any kind of stain remover like vanish. Washing powder would be advised too! Oh I forgot, try to take a phone card with you, mobile phones will be taken away from you after the 1st week

Dont forget to check your steam iron each time you use it as some barsteward may have done the age old trick of putting urine in it. :o

Yellow steam and yellow white fronts smelling slightly of corn beef are not good. :(

Take your phone. Your allowed to use them now. Yes do take a tracksuit as some weekends you can go for 'free rec' up the gym and also can go for a swim. You still got to go in rig to the bar tho :(

Hey dalo, you start Raleigh on 30 jan? theres a few birds about, but nothing to go crazy over. Though, 8 weeks down the line...But hey, heard about a few of the 47s (a different class) who used a brothel during their leave time, :P

And yeah, you're only meant to use phones in certain areas, though most people use them in the mess

Thanks for the tip off Baxter. Walker Block, Richmond Mess, mobiles I'll let my mate an instructer at the fire school know he be duty PO soon, nothing he'ed like better than to have a bunch of sprogs running round the quadrangle in nicks flip flops and agr's.
Only joking mate  but I m surprised they let you keep your mobiles at all during basic training.

Sorry slightly off topic but I am going for my entry test in a few weeks and getting a bit worried. My mate failed the aptitude test and he said he found it hard. How did you guys find it? How gruelling was the interview?

Not meaning to be horrid but the test ain't hard. If I can rem. it is 4 parts, maths, english, general knowledge and mechanics.

Don't worry, you only have to get 50% and over, if you want to be a chef, just hit the 50% mark

Seriously don't worry, army test is the p1ss easy one!
